  1. Okay so the AMCs I tracked had IMAX showings at around the 7-8PM time area earlier today, but now those shows all suddenly vanished. Which like...I'm fine if this movie shares IMAX with Jurassic World, but people were already buying tickets for those shows. That's 14-23 tickets down the drain. This is just so stupid.
  2. My big thing with M:I 7 getting to 300M is that I don't see how it can grow its audience even further. The franchise has been ongoing for over 25 years, has had a new movie on an average of every four years or so between movies. At this point, the only people who are going to see it are likely already fans of these movies, and the only way I could see any more growth would be if they got some huge A-lister paired up with Cruise or something. That's not the case, so why would somebody with no real connection or interest in the franchise suddenly care? Top Gun 2 is different, because there's only one movie to catch up with and the movie was designed where you didn't have to see the original to understand what's going on. I took my parents to see Maverick, but they have zero interest in this new Mission: Impossible. My mom's never seen them, my dad's only seen the first one, and I've never seen them express much interest in catching any of the other ones. What's the hook for them? And for the record, I see around 250M for both of them, maybe DR2 could get to like 265M with some nostalgia finale factor behind it, but any higher than that is a huge leap IMO
  3. This right here boggles the mind. Dinosaurs messing up historic landmarks like it's a Godzilla movie sounds badass. Dinos trying to work with humans a la Flintstones is also weirdly badass. It's such an easy concept that could easily print money. I think Jurassic World is one of the worst movies ever (sorry guys, there's nothing that will convince me that it's "dumb, but fun"), and even I thought this was a cool slam dunk idea that not even Colin Trevorrow could mess up. But he somehow managed to fumble even that. How is this even possible?!
  4. I mean that's another big thing yeah. Which again shows that Lost World's problems weren't because there was no park. I'm still confused why this is the lynchpin for success all of a sudden, especially when almost all the other Jurassic movies still made gangbusters.
  5. And would having a park magically make Lost World better and scrub away all its problems? I think the bigger issue is how dull the characters are and the uninteresting plot, not a missing theme park. If the movie was good, I feel very confident people would be more receptive and enjoy the film more, therefore leading to stronger box office.
  6. Mannnnnn I could write a book about how awful Love Simon was in the first Jurassic World. Such a detestable and obnoxious douchebag, even for a dumb stupid teenager. The other kid was kinda cool though. He was the only character in the first movie with any personality.
  7. Brad Pitt could stub his toe and that will make you think Bullet Train will bomb. Can you please stop with this? It's really gotten old.
  8. They'll be like Fallout where everybody will overpredict it and think it'll cross 300M+ easy because Top Gun 2 made so much money, when it'll only do a slight increase from their predecessors. That's not a bad thing I might add.
  9. Lost World had the biggest opening ever despite not having the original park. The only reason it made less than the first movie was because it was crap and was a follow-up to a mega breakout hit. Fallen Kingdom also did really well even though the park was destroyed, and only made less because it was crap and a follow-up to a mega breakout hit. And from what I can gather, Dominion doesn't even use the "dinosaurs messing up the real world" to its potential at all. I think there's more underlying factors than just "theme park". And besides, what else is there to do with the "dinosaur theme park" idea? The best I can think of is maybe show the construction of the theme park, but that still doesn't scream "must-see" and would probably do better as a streaming show.
  10. https://variety.com/2022/film/news/warner-bros-dc-films-toby-emmerich-michael-de-luca-david-zaslav-1235286779/ We're never getting another Superman movie lol
  11. My best friend and I do bad movie nights, and we were in hysterics when we got to the plot twist. Genuinely baffled a script like that, a script that probably went through tons of approval checks, had people going "yeah this is fine, go make a movie."
  12. I know showtimes aren't finalized, but Lightyear is getting only one IMAX showing in the afternoon in almost every location, while Dolby is only getting about two or three in the afternoon. The Regals with PLFs don't even have Lightyear playing on IMAX or 4DX or RPX on Thursday. I'm sure they will add more if Dominion beefs it and theaters think there is more value in having it run all day, but like...man, this really shows just how much theaters need to get more IMAX/Dolby/RPX/4DX in their establishments like yesterday.

  15. No offense, but why are you obsessed with the box office subreddit? Is it that hard to ignore them? Is them being pessimistic about a movie you like really so bad?
  16. You know you can just ignore Twitter if you hate it so much. Baffled why people are so fascinated over that one site
