  1. Because Nielsen is also looking at individual viewers. Their tech includes stuff like People Meters that allow Nielsen boxes/technology to look at each viewer in a household. They do this for TV ratings so advertisers can see what demos (man, woman, kid, adult, etc.) is actually watching their stuff and what ads should be targeted towards them. So this means for Tomorrow War, if three people in one household watch that movie together, instead of 138 minutes viewed, that means 414 minutes were viewed, because three people watched it. So because 1984 dropped when families were all at home together for Christmas, the minutes soared exponentially. I hope that makes sense
  2. @Nova please come back this weekend. We need you fam! 🙏
  3. Fuck you mean Curse of the Were-Rabbit is mediocre? 😠
  4. My sister worked at a daycare a couple years ago and she always talks about the obsessive nature her kids had over this PAW Patrol. Whenever playtime occurred and she had to give out the PAW Patrol toys, it was the preschool equivalent of The Hunger Games
  5. Well I only track one theater from MTC2, because there's not a lot around Philly. That theater...doesn't have Free Guy showings yet. As for MTC1, that is the majority of what I track and their Free Guy sales make up about 83% of all tickets sold so far. But they usually take up a majority anyways here in Philly, just because of more locations and I guess maybe also just because of AMC A-List. I dunno, I don't know what their usual skew is and it's almost 1 AM here, so I don't think I'll do it at this point in time.
  6. 7. Think I remember reports that there was tons of tension on the set for The Revenant. But really, while this might be a mistranslation, this seems more like a David Fincher "do 70 takes for one scene" kind of deal than it is a David O. Russell "yelling at Lilly Tomlin and being a sex pest"
  8. Ehh, I feel like Mortal Kombat and Suicide Squad are the only franchises that will be discarded, and even then Peacemaker's in the can and is probably cheaper than most superhero shows to justify an extra season or two. I'm sure Margot will also finagle her way somewhere into a DC project. Likewise, Gal will definitely push a Wonder Woman 3 or just pop up in another hero's movie. No matter what you will say about 1984, the character and Gadot's performance is still iconic to earn some more chances. We'll probably get some sort of Monsterverse follow-up, and they set King Kong to have a return in the ending to GvK. Conjuring movies are cheap enough to still make movies and spin-offs out of them. We got a new Looney Tunes show when HBO Max first dropped and I'm sure we'll keep getting Looney Tunes shorts or character-focused spinoffs. And unless Dune is the megabomb of the century (and regardless of what some of you weirdos think, that will not be the case), we're getting that Dune TV show. Matrix might be dependent on whether Lana Wachowski wants to do more, but you never know. It's really not gonna be as bad as people are making it out to be.
  9. Did a quick glance at Thursday shows here in Philly and I could sadly see Respect going sub-10M. It sales are about on par with Don't Breathe here at this stage, and that's a warning sign to me as Black-led movies overindex here. Obviously I know that the audience demographics are different and that Don't Breathe will likely have bigger previews anyways and that Respect isn't presales-driven, has that early screening today, etc. However, it did cause me to pause a little bit.
  10. That's...true with every Marvel movie? Films live or die on the popularity of their brand or franchise, and even something like Black Panther or Iron Man would not be as popular as they are if they weren't Marvel-branded. Not sure why you're targeting this specifically as if this is the only movie that would flop if it wasn't Marvel-branded.
