  1. I mean I remember Spotlight. My parents remember it too. I don't see a reason why it would be forgotten by the masses (and for the record, I don't want an explanation why), but you do you I guess.
  2. This is the most insipid Oscars argument ever. Does AMPAS have a crystal bal that will predict what movies people will “remember?” Especially since Spotlight is far from forgotten and how much people “remember” a movie is super subjective from person to person that is impossible to scientifically prove?
  3. Weren’t you the guy throwing a fit over the Oscars not picking “popular movies” and that it made them “out of touch?” Now the idea of them awarding a popular movie is awful and bad? Okay then.
  4. Full Deadline top 10. I like these kinds of weekends where every cup is a winner and there's good holds for almost everything (yeah I know some of the totals suck, but who cares?). I'm shocked The Menu only fell 34% despite being free on HBO Max. That typically means the end of a movie's run. What happened there? 1.) Avatar 2 (Dis) 4,340 theaters Fri $11.4M (-54%) 3-day $38M-$43M (-36% to 44%), Total $514.7M (on the high end)/Wk 4 2.) M3GAN (Uni) 3,509 theaters, Fri $11.7M, 3-day $27.5M/Wk 1 3.) Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (Uni/Ill) 3,919 (-202) theaters, Fri $3.3M (-49%), 3-day $12.4M (-26%), Total $87M/Wk 3 4.) A Man Called Otto (Sony) 637 (+633) theaters, Fri $1.5M 3-day $3.68M/ total $3.76M/Wk 2 5.) Wakanda Forever (Dis) 2,255 (-55) theaters, Fri $968K (-50%) 3-day $3M (-41%), Total $445M/Wk 9 6.) I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Sony) 3,184 (-441) theaters Fri $700K (-51%) 3-day $2.38M (-39%) Total $19.6M/Wk 3 7.) 5. I don't want to be the guy who comes up to Papa Nolan and tells him they need to market his movie with the Oppenheimer Shuffle.
  6. Really it's the ideal circumstance. We get the man's numbers, we don't hear the man lecture about how streaming is evil and that anyone who doubts him is an incompetent moron. Life is good. 😎
  7. I had faith this would be the one adult-oriented film that would do...slightly better than the rest. I think it looks insufferable and treacle, but people were hollering when the trailer played in front of Banshees of Inisherin and the premise is catnip for every boomer in America. My mom's already got plans to see it with her friends, and she never goes to the movies unless I take her. Which like...yeah, 10M is still sad for a film that would have easily opened to 20M+ in 2018, but I'll take those small victories wherever I can!
  8. Probably gonna move this to the archives at around 5:30. So you have until then, maybe a tad earlier, to get your kicks and gags in.
  9. I mean Cameron being an egotist and an asshole is what makes him so endearing to me (well, minus the verbal abuse stuff of course. That's not very fun). Hollywood's full of weirdos with full of themselves attitudes and that's what gives Hollywood its charms. Like The Rock's Black Adam meltdowns are just a joy to watch. Can't wait to tell my kids about them.
