  1. Free Guy Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-4 and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 32 121 6694 1.81% Total Seats Sold Today: 16 Comp 1.152x of Snake Eyes T-4 (1.61M) 0.812x of Jungle Cruise T-4 (2.19M) Not a great day, but this is all about Monday through Thursday, and other people reported better sales today.
  2. Think I remember reports that there was tons of tension on the set for The Revenant. But really, while this might be a mistranslation, this seems more like a David Fincher "do 70 takes for one scene" kind of deal than it is a David O. Russell "yelling at Lilly Tomlin and being a sex pest"
  3. Ehh, I feel like Mortal Kombat and Suicide Squad are the only franchises that will be discarded, and even then Peacemaker's in the can and is probably cheaper than most superhero shows to justify an extra season or two. I'm sure Margot will also finagle her way somewhere into a DC project. Likewise, Gal will definitely push a Wonder Woman 3 or just pop up in another hero's movie. No matter what you will say about 1984, the character and Gadot's performance is still iconic to earn some more chances. We'll probably get some sort of Monsterverse follow-up, and they set King Kong to have a return in the ending to GvK. Conjuring movies are cheap enough to still make movies and spin-offs out of them. We got a new Looney Tunes show when HBO Max first dropped and I'm sure we'll keep getting Looney Tunes shorts or character-focused spinoffs. And unless Dune is the megabomb of the century (and regardless of what some of you weirdos think, that will not be the case), we're getting that Dune TV show. Matrix might be dependent on whether Lana Wachowski wants to do more, but you never know. It's really not gonna be as bad as people are making it out to be.
  4. Did a quick glance at Thursday shows here in Philly and I could sadly see Respect going sub-10M. It sales are about on par with Don't Breathe here at this stage, and that's a warning sign to me as Black-led movies overindex here. Obviously I know that the audience demographics are different and that Don't Breathe will likely have bigger previews anyways and that Respect isn't presales-driven, has that early screening today, etc. However, it did cause me to pause a little bit.
  5. That's...true with every Marvel movie? Films live or die on the popularity of their brand or franchise, and even something like Black Panther or Iron Man would not be as popular as they are if they weren't Marvel-branded. Not sure why you're targeting this specifically as if this is the only movie that would flop if it wasn't Marvel-branded.

  7. Stuff like Narcos and Bojack Horseman have already appeared on syndication. High School Musical: The Series popped up on Disney Channel to hype up season 2. Disney and Warner own cable channels and broadcast networks, so I'd imagine Soul and Luca and Godzilla vs. Kong and Space Jam 2 to pop up on those channels. They're also readily available on home media or are set to be on home media, so it'll be pretty easy to watch these movies outside of their streaming services. And even then, when you consider how movies these days are reliant on their franchises and corporate overlords, most of the audience for these movies...are already on these services. If Black Widow was exclusively on Disney+, I don't think the Marvel fanbase will be unable to access the film.
  8. Guys I know why Green Knight isn’t doing well. You don’t have to explain why to me. I’m just saying I wanted it to have good legs because I liked the movie and wanted to see it do well and buck the usual audience trend.
  9. Pity. Kinda hoped this would be a Hereditary situation where there would be surprisingly good legs in spite of the audience scores. Oh well

  11. For the first part, the big issue with Mortal Kombat, outside of being dreadful (honestly up there with Coming 2 America as one of the worst movies of the year, though I'll admit I haven't bothered with most of the year's dreck), it only really appealed to folks who were already fans of the franchise, as seen by its legs and poor non-fan reception. I mean even fans thought the movie kinda sucked. And I'm sure despite the strong initial viewings on HBO Max, I doubt Mortal Kombat held up well enough, critically or financially, to make Warner think it was worth even doing a TV show spin-off. Movies like Mortal Kombat exist to excite new audiences into a series. If it doesn't, and fans already don't care for it, why pursue any further when you have better options? As for the second part, streaming movies don't really make profit. They are made at a loss, but the idea is that these movies either excite people to get a subscription or keep current subscribers engaged and invested in the service. All the while, subscription revenue basically "pays" for the film's budget. Of course, streaming services take a while to actually make a profit because of all the original content they make each year (Netflix only just started turning a profit entirely thanks to COVID shutdowns), but this is a long-term game that reaps benefits once it does. If you're talking specific revenue or profits made for one movie, there's also toy sales, DVDs, digital purchases or rentals, cable airings, etc. This isn't really seen with Netflix or Amazon (the DVDs for stuff like House of Cards or Fuller House are produced by their production studios), but Disney and Warner have their own home entertainment and merchandising divisions, which is why Soul and Luca are now on 4K Blu-Ray. I'm sure they'll also pop up on Disney Channel or Freeform in the coming years too.
  12. Pretty sure Alice 2 holds that record...The Suicide Squad might break it though, depending on how the next few weeks shape up
  13. Well Wick's current spot is also the same date as Mission: Impossible 7, so that might not happen
