The 5th and 6th Harry Potter had Wednesday openings, diluting the weekend demand. Obviously their openings would've been bigger than 4th had they been released on a Friday.
I know, right? Can't we at least wait until Sunday before dancing the grave of a movie that has already made $17M and hasn't even been out for 24 years? Yeesh.
A Marvel movie that isn't a sequel or based on an existing (read: obscure) property.
It's early though. Don't ring any alarms until the full opening day is in tomorrow morning though.
The buzz for this one did feel really muted compared to the first two, though. Not that that fully explains a possible sub-$130M opening but still.
It would be really something else if Guardians of the Galaxy won the year.
Last night's episode was pretty weak. Cupid Lady wasn't even a campy fun villainess like last week's tease promised. This season has been pretty uneven so far compared to mostly strong first two. Too much CW-ness, I guess, or maybe The Flash (which is definitely the stronger show at the moment) has sucked up the creativity this season.
Pike's not winning. Buzz for Gone Girl has died down too much (the movie is definitely on the lower end of the "likely to be nominated for Best Picture" ranking at this point), and Moore is wildly overdue (and this year is weak enough to allow for someone as overdue as she is to win). For Pike, the nomination for bringing such a compellingly-written character to life will be her reward and that's it.
Unlikely. The plethora of movies that will be gobbling screens over the next few month assures it's gonna be pushed and shoved out of theaters in the weeks ahead, plus Harvey's just gonna move on to The Imitation Game (which is looking like a lock to be a major player at the Oscars) and Big Eyes.
If there are 9 again I'm thinking:
Birdman
Boyhood
Foxcatcher
Gone Girl
The Imitation Game
Selma
The Theory of Everything
Unbroken
And then the last spot is wide open. It could be Interstellar, Into the Woods, Whiplash, Wild. Completely up for grabs.
If we're going by from now until a year from today:
1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
2. Avengers: Age of Ultron
3. Inside Out
4. Tomorrowland
5. Into the Woods
6. Jurassic World
7. Cinderella
8. Bond 24
9. St. James Place
10. The Jungle Book
From what I've seen in interviews, Candace Cameron Bure actually seems like a pretty well-balanced person. Or at least she's not creepy or delusional about her views like her brother is.
There's nothing wrong with being a born again Christian, but Kirk Cameron is just a misguided and creepy person. I refuse to give him a cent of any kind.
