  1. yes but it's not disappointing in the same way that say Avengers opening to 120m would be disappointing. A few weeks ago no one was saying it would do 160+. the average prediction in the summer game was 113m. one person predicted 185, all the others were between 80-130m. Boxoffice had long range tracking at 105-130 - https://www.boxofficepro.com/long-range-tracking-toy-story-4-childs-play/ It is doing as it should reasonably be expected. the fact things got blown out of the water in the last few weeks doesn't really matter.
  2. toy story 3 had even better reviews from critics and audiences and ONLY opened to a PATHETIC 110m the sequel literally no one wanted opening to 123m weekend is even worse. this franchise is dead. What an utter disappointment.
  3. i dont remember sorry. incidentally I didnt even think anyone knew including the fat boy, at least not from the movie, I just know that he knows in Infinity War so therefore probably found out in Homecoming but I can't remember it. It's like its been wiped from my memory
  4. its half 4 i should probably get out of bed if the weather is nice outside
  5. are you for real? YOu didn't see that a lot of people on the forum believed Aladdin would do badly? We all thought it would. It is the surprise winner of the summer, so far at least.
  6. What do you mean fail? Its a small film, wasn't expected to make much so didn't spend much, I have no idea what they spent on marketing in $ but it was not a major release like Halloween. ALso yes they are both old horror films, but that doesn't mean they are comparable... Halloween is a much bigger brand than Child's Play. Like I said a few pages back, the last Chucky movie was straight to DVD. This is a really small franchise. The last Childs Play in theaters opened to 8 million dollars. Halloween on the other hand is one of cornerpieces of modern horror. It didn't quite invent the genre but it is the king. Child's Play owes it a lot. I think its a film a lot of people are aware of but not many actually want to watch.
  7. The implication of his identity being revealed is that they would have then to deal with the relationships with his friends, with Mary Jane, etc. I didn't say it was the best direction to go in. we have no idea even what it will be until another two years time or whenever the next one comes out. I also don't give two craps about what direction it goes in. I am just saying that a lot of MCU films (homecoming being a perfect example) are pretty vapid and kind of 'easy' with little actual conflict and emotional development + very self contained. Permanent changes with consequences that the filmmakers actually explore, are good for this series. Gets people more invested. MCU is becoming more and more like a TV series and this helps that. As for your first paragraph I have no idea what you're on about, sorry. I've seen the film twice and its so forgettable i have literally no clue what happened in it.
  8. Without sounding snobbish I doubt disney cares about comic book sales. As for merchandise. I would presume that any Far From Home or Homecoming branded merchandise would all go to Sony? And anything Avengers branded would go to Disney? extremely profitable regardless.
  9. That's terrific given the last film went straight to DVD. Hope it does well enough here to stay in my local cinema next week as cant afford to go to the cinema until next friday
  10. You are not wrong that Sony has benefitted much more than Disney. However, what do you think Disney has actually lost? I don't recall that after ASM cancellation Sony was looking to sell the rights back to Disney. The wealth of box office dollars that Sony has reaped was never up for grabs. Disney couldn't have had that instead. SpiderMan is not up for sale. And certainly now he won't be for sale. I agree spider-man has probably not added much to Marvel in terms of BO dollars but it hasn't lost them anything. after all they are not putting up any money. Re your point about Disney building up a competitor, are they actually a competitor? They are a rival studio but the films themselves, are they competing? Is Spiderman FFH competing against Avengers or whatever other MCU film? All these superhero films, MCU and otherwise, for the most part appear to boost each other - the genre as a whole being more popular gives a benefit to all involved. But I do think you're right that positioning Spiderman as a leading Avenger is a bad move. It gives Sony massive bargaining power. But, I'm not a businessman, I have no idea what would be good. I certainly dont think Disney have been negatively impacted by Spider-Man being popular again. I imagine they get some money from certain merchandise (no idea how that aspect of the deal works)
