hell, 2001 a space odyssey got bad reviews when it came out, and now widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time.
perhaps the same will happen to jon favreau's The Lion king.
I won't watch the trailer but I hope taika has not sold out for this one like mentioned a couple pages back. The poster & what he has talked about the film previously do not give me hope.
fingers crossed it's a return to form after Thor Ragnarok though.
Worth thinking about which movies are based on comic books. I'm sure the same set of superhero films will grab every spot on the list but it's worth bearing in mind these are some CBMs eligible for this list:
Diary of a Teenage Girl
Oldboy
Road to Perdition
A History of Violence
Men in Black
Blue is the warmest colour
Nausicaa of the valley of the Wind
Just so you're aware - it is not a "re-release". It's a theatrical event called Secret Cinema. It's run every summer. Tickets are around $100 each. They take a beloved film and build a venue, decorate it like the film, have actors dressed up, similar to a theme park - and they display the film.
They've done star wars, back to the future, blade runner, some others.
if you're interested, this may give you an idea:
I like the Jamescameronscholar approach of, the best film ever is the highest grossing. makes it super easy to figure out what films someone likes.
i must say it gives me some pleasure knowing JCS's favourite film is now Avengers Endgame.
Yes, exactly, it had "pretty good audience rating", so it was not divisive.
US is a divisive film, lots of audience hated it an dlots of audience loved it. Same for something like the new film MIDSOMMAR.
someone told me about that the other day. That is amazing that one little town took in thousands of essentially emergency refugees. that's an incredible story.
really annoyed that I missed the ending of Us. i was rather enjoying the film.
Yes, because adults don't just enjoy everything they experience, unlike kids (and indeed, fully grown manchildren) watching a PG-13 funnybook movie
