  1. hahaha fuck me. just looked in my emails to see the ticket bookings. and I fucking did watch My Neighbour Totoro. I am a right clown. (and Castle in the Sky)
  2. I don't think i've ever watched a dubbed film in my life. Personally, I don't see the point. If i am going to watch a film, I will watch it in the original language used and intended by the filmmakers. @Tower obviously Kaguya is very different. They pretty much all look the same to me. That's not a dig at Ghibli, it's just due to Anime being completely foreign to me, so to someone who knows nothing about it, it all looks similar. I understand the point above about WDAS, i dont disagree. but it's like if I listened to rap music, it all sounds the same to me. or if I look at some black and white films they all look the same. I am sure if I started watching japanese animation i would distinguish them. I'd know if i had watched My Neighbour Totoro because it has a big distinct creature lol. One of the ones I've seen had a flying castle... but Ghibli has done two of these so I'm not sure if it is Castle in the Sky or Howl's moving castle. or maybe i've seen both. Lol.
  3. so you're contradicting yourself. There are reasons that films do badly other than "being terrible".
  4. I really need to watch more but I hate watching subtitled films at home. I can manage it fine in the cinema. I've only seen three of them, and seen them in the cinema. The tale of princess kaguya, and two others... I am embarrassed to say I am not sure which ones they are, even though i bought a ticket to see them, and it was recently. All of the studio ghibli films look the same and I get easily confused.
  5. yeah I guessed that but i was just reading an article and it only mentioned that one, couldn't be arsed to go through the Studio Ghibli catalogue to check which ones are original and which ones are adapted from maanga.
  6. That is long for a horror movie. Not unheard of though - there's a film currently in cinemas called MIDSOMMAR that's very long, and even has an extended cut coming out. Go check that out.
  7. You may not have liked Detective pikachu but it was pretty well received. Its underperformance is not down to it being a "bad/meh film", whatever that means. You say if movies are good, people show up. Well then why does Midsommar only make a third of Hereditary gross? Why does Booksmart go nowhere? Why does Alita Battle Angel gross less than the terrible Godzilla 2? These are films which are loved by their audience. So much more complex than you make it out to be
  8. No one "asked" for Titanic, or Avatar, they were not based on things the audience was interested in. And yet they resonated so truly with people that they became genuine sensations across all audiences and became more successful than any film before. It is really oversimplifying things to say "audiences demand this" or "audiences do not want this".
  9. yes but they're original film franchises. Captain Marvel is the 21st film in its series. You think that's the same as the lone ranger? Also, Tomorrowland IS an original film, i'm not sure what you think it is based on.
  10. I didn't click the article, I made the fatal mistake of googling and reading the same news story on a different website, which did indeed inform me it was D&D. https://www.esquire.com/uk/latest-news/a28516511/game-of-thrones-showrunners-in-for-lord-of-the-rings-tv-series/ I should have kept faith in Deadline! All other news is Fake News.
  11. Their website is quite confusing with tickets, it looks like they are £50 mid-week and £80 on the weekend. You get a lot for your money. You spend an entire evening there and watch the film. They describe it as:
  12. Still need to see toy story 4 actually. part of me says unnecessary sequel I didn't want, other part of me says I promised my parents i'll go with them.
  13. $70M more from Japan, really? Didn't know it had that many countries left, yeah will probably get there, don't agree that it will be 440M domestic at a minimum.
  14. doubt it, tarantino films are quite front loaded by now. fast and furious next week is stiff competition too. what happened to a certain icon?
  15. yeah they have it go for like 2 months or so I think, and usually, it's in the top 10 box office every single weekend. Titanic would be awesome. especially as you have to dress up! I would probably go. I'm just reading their website at the moment and I didn't realise: It is very interactive.
  16. How's that gonna work with them also making star wars trilogy... wonder if the SW movies will not be made.
