  2. Mad Max probably has the lead due to the Sound categories. That may cause it to edge out. Revenant will get the popular awards though. So if we just count the number of wins MM will probably win. But if we score the awards with respect to there popularity/importance/major-ness (for ex - Best Pic -5points, Actors/actress awards -4p, Screenplay/score/animated pic 3.5p, Major Techincal awards like Cinematography/sound ones 3p and so on) Rev would come out on top.

  3. What about just taking a no-predict as a 0$ predict? That way for the higher end movies where the player thus tried to save lots of points he'd correspondingly lose a lot, while for the lower tier movies where chances are more of the player having simply forgotten to put the numbers, and where he would not be attempting to save a lot anyway even if it was intentional, he'd correspondingly lose much lesser points (but he still will lose and moreso than anyone else).

But it'll still be just a -50k penalty on not attempting any of the grosses. For that means the player may have indeed just forgot to put the numbers at all. Also, that'd increase the excitement as the players will have a choice to either go for all or just take the -50k penalty as the safer path if they believe they might end up losing more the other way. (I for instance lost 141k in the Dom top 15 alone through my gross predictions)

  4. So close and yet so far....

But seriously speaking, I totally wasn't expecting a 6th place finish since after the Oscars SOTM results were announced. So I am very very happy with this result. I'll also go down with the lowest SOTM score in the top 6 (by a big margin too) and if I had played safer there I could have reached much higher.

Nice jab at fate's obsession with keeping me second btw.

  5. Ok, wow. That was unexpected. I was totally expecting a second post saying that that was just a joke (as happens in every countdown here) and that Tele is indeed 15th while damienroc's position is yet to be unveiled. Down to 14 from being a member of the elite 6? I really really wasn't expecting any major change to happen in the top 10. This game is indeed built upon the preseasons, isn't it?

  6. Completed watching Zankyou No Terror (Terror in Resonance) this past week. Really good. It had a great fast paced story, well-created and developing characters, an intriguing sense of mystery throughout and a genuinely great OST. For just an 11 episode anime it has quite some characters and sub-plots but each of those beautifully converge near the end to bring forward a great story. A few characters and their actions/motives might seem unrealistic and a major character's worth to the story may be questionable at first glance but a deeper thinking of the situation and the pasts and their effects on each other would show you otherwise. The anime is small, just 11 episodes long and still has a clearly conclusive end so I'll definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a complete story in a quick watch. All in all a great show. 8.5-9/10

Thanks for posting this. Will be cool to see how many of those Deadpool surpass.

As of right now, for some reason Im having some doubts it makes more than 300m in USA. I guess it depends on third weekend.

About worldwide, it will surpass 600m without a doubt. I dont expect it to do more than Cap2 and Dofp, but we'll see...

Its actually all locked for 300m+ Dom. And it has fairly good chances of beating Cap 2 too.

  8. Well, you guys can go on arguing about SW vs DP but as I said earlier, JW wins this for it made just or almost just as many times the average predictions and did that with twice as big numbers in play. Thats enough to end the debate of whether it the most surprising in a decade. Its not even most surprising in a year. Anyways since we love ranking, here's my list of most surprising runs since 1 Jan 2015 -

    1 JW

2 SW (250m OW in Dec, breaking prev record by highest ever margin? 40m Monday follows that? 150m...second Weekend? Thats crazy, thats BS crazy, I just can't even take in any argument after that and GiantCALBears you remember how you underpredicted it each day of its OW, right? How can you say it was predictable then?)

    3 DeadPool

    4 American Sniper

    5. TGD

IO (you have to remember it opened on JW's 2nd weekend and most had there predicts lowered to 50m OW after JW's OW)

    7 FF7 (OS especially)

    8 AOU

    9 Rev

    10 Daddy's Home

There is something that i don´t understand.

If Disney bought Marvel years ago, why fox or Sony make superhero movies from Marvel?

Have they to pay a percentage to Disney?

    Thanks for claryfing.

Marvel sold X-Men and Spiderman film-rights to these studios years before there deal with Disney. So, as far as films go these have (or, in Sony's case, had) complete rights to these characters and I don't think they have to pay anything to Marvel.
