  1. Really slowed down, them Cars 3. Even Baywatch had better weekdays, proportionally! Here's the full weekly Top 10.
  2. It's now or never for Cars 3 to reach 300M lc total, it'd be interesting to see today's weekly numbers. DM3 is going to obliterate it next weekend, we may be looking at OW records. Spiderman is one of the most popular superheroes in this market, anything less than 500M lc total would be disappointing. Transformers 4 had a limited release (76,291,360 lc 4-day OW) and ended up as the highest grossing in the franchise (435,600,000 total). Don't think the fifth one will be higher.
  3. You would have roasted over here as well! Dublin was an oven yesterday, hottest June in 40 years.
  4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, to be released on June 22, 2018. "Life finds a way" with Jeff Goldblum on board. New name sounds a bit Transformers-like, hope it doesn't go that way. I say 75% chance to reach 1 billion if ER doesn't collapse. My 2000th post
  5. WW is now in the all-time Top 60 Movies (lc). May become the 36th movie to reach 400M: 55 320,990,000 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) 56 319,220,000 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014) 57 317,190,000 Wonder Woman (2017) 58 316,762,931 Shrek 2 (2004) 59 316,580,000 X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) 150M lc OW would be very good for Cars 3.
  6. According to Mojo, Cars 2 opened to $8,242,857 for a great $25,508,290 total back in 2011. Cars 3 has a Latino character, but with the current front-loading environment, it'll be hard to reach 400M lc ($22M). What do you reckon?
  7. ER below 18 for the first time in months. It got as high as 22 in Jan! That'll help the US gross of upcoming movies.
  8. Wow, so not even 90M lc OW for La Momia. Tickets were cheaper than usual for an opening... may not reach 200M with the Cars 3 / DM3 / Spiderman HC treble whammy. Delighted for Wonder Woman, it will be the first "origin" superhero movie to pass the 300M lc barrier (if we exclude the ASM reboot).
  9. Deadline is reporting a $5.1M OW for The Mummy, (90-95M lc), #4 intl market, down from the initial estimates. Cannot see any long legs.
  10. From Forbes: "Offhand, WW earned $8.4 million in Mexico, which is the fourth-biggest WB debut ever over there and above all relevant comparisons save for Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad." So about 155M lc. I think SS had a great multiplier, so 350-400M lc ($19-21.5M) total? Or more? What's the competition?
  11. Get Out had an OW of $754K, #3 behind POTC 5 and HTBALL. Other totals: GotG2 $18.8M, FF8 $38.8M. Source: Screendaily
  12. POTC 4 is the highest of the saga, 337,725,202 lc (about $29M back in 2011), in the all time Top 50. POTC 5 needs a 2.8 multiplier to surpass it in lc. Doable? Won't happen in USD.
  13. Up to Thursday, HTBALL now over 400M lc. King Arthur and the Alien Covenant very close to the 100M lc barrier. Top 12 SuperHero Movies in lc 01 827,122,715 The Avengers (2012) 02 784,100,000 Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) 03 728,200,000 Captain America 3: Civil War (2016) 04 630,800,000 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) 05 591,366,759 Iron Man 3 (2013) 06 514,700,000 Suicide Squad (2016) 07 420,153,770 The Dark Knight Rises (2012) 08 383,580,659 The Amazing Spider Man (2012) 09 381,085,877 Spider Man 3 (2007) 10 371,356,228 The Amazing Spider Man 2 (2014) 11 351,500,000 Deadpool (2016) 12 349,250,000 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
