  1. I kinda have that feeling that we're hearing about Snyder currently working on finishing up that 3hr R-rated cut because we might see a limited release. That could def add another few bucks and give us something new to fight about.
  2. So....I'm checking out a stream. Looks awful! 1 more time in theaters for me it is! Imax this time.
  3. http://variety.com/2016/film/box-office/batman-v-superman-reviews-critics-box-office-1201740022/#respond From Variety Slight backlash to the critical drubbing?
  4. Here's why. From deadline Typically, New York and LA put up the best theater openings for tentpoles, but looking atBvS’s top grossing venues indicates the film played strong across the nation: NYC’s AMC Empire played the title 53 times over the last two days, grossing $528K, but ranking second was The Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ, taking $279K on Friday and Saturday. At third was Burbank’s AMC with $291K, followed by San Antonio’s Santikos Palladium Imax at $279K and Regal’s Atlantic Station in Atlanta with $274K.
  5. I don't know about the goodwill that will be created going forward. It just needs to break even at the box office. However, this will make a TON of money. Licensing and toys alone are going to be the biggest they've ever been for a DC film release. This is going to be a huge money-maker no matter how you slice it. There's only so much they can do to Snyder when the film ends up making them a ton of cash despite him and critical acclaim. Kinda backwards huh? But, the characters are just too beloved to really fail. Sucide squad CAN restore some of that goodwill. Really, can it really go any lower for the critics? Plus, they get the one universally loved part of BvS (Batman). They effectively create the villains that our heroes will fight going forward and the audience will care for them more than they would in a solo film. We get to see them in action. This all assuming of course, SS is viewed favorably. Hell, we might get a situation where the GA roots for our villains if it goes really well for SS. Imagine that? i
  6. Aren't you the one saying **** YOU Zack Snyder over and over again like he reads these boards? Dude, get a grip. I saw how ecstatic you were for the Deadpool opening....that was scary in a "Wow. That guy is really into this band. He's moshing all alone!!' type of way. It was kinda entertaining and funny....these last few days from you have been the exact opposite. Equally scary to see the meltdown. Just BvS-kinda dark..from reports, I haven't seen it myself. It's okay man, this will get fixed...someday. Hopefully. Maybe. Hmmmm.....
  7. Objectivity has been on a slow leave for weeks now. The reviews just pushed the Ludicrous Speed button for people that were already circling it.
  8. Saw this at a screening on Weds. Here are some thoughts, non to spoilery. This is NOT a direct sequel to Cloverfield. Think of it as happening in the same universe. John Goodman KILLS it in this. Man, he just owns every minute he is onscreen. He made me laugh and terrified me within seconds. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, goodness she is just gorgeous...wait, that's not what this was about! Anyway, she plays her part perfectly as well. You are experiencing the unfolding events through her eyes, and she exemplifies an intelligent heroine. By the end, you are all in with her and her actions. The small cast really allows all actors to shine and give moments of space for all the emotions they go through despite this taking place in mainly one location. This is a psychological thriller/suspense film. The tension mounts until the ending. When.... Really did like it. Much like Ex-Machina last year, I walked into this not expecting too much and walked out fully satisfied as the story accomplished what it set out to do. The sliver of genres pushed together to create what the film became was as creative as it was thrilling.
  9. So, with BvS and Civil War coming up, do we have up-to-date figures on recent films: AOU, CA2, and MOS and how the home dvd/blu-ray sales/rental markets received them at this point? (I ask because they stop reporting it seems on some sites a few months after home release)
  10. Great point. I think we will see less ridiculous highs of TA and IM3...and more of the rest of the Marvel movies hit a "Sweet Spot" in that 200-300 million range (Domestic) and (300-500) WW. Basically churned out hits that will eventually taper off and International numbers will inflate while the domestic market loses steam. (Like Spiderman) That would really balance out and level any perceived shortfalls of the mega blockbusters.
  11. Couldn't the same be said for A2 Sunday gross only dropping a less than expected 10% from Saturday? All things being equal, Saturday's crowd that missed A2 for the fight spilled over to Sunday. (West Coast was up significantly from Saturday) It's pretty much a wash by now imo. The real test is week 2's #'s.
  12. Suddenly Lebron/Kobe suck the second they get bounced from the playoffs. Great analogy!
  13. It was the damn 4th of july out here! Just quiet in the streets....
  14. It was fairly obtuse to think that the fight wasn't going to play big on Saturday night on the WC. EVERYONE I knew, was watching that fight. Side bets, drinks, bbq, friend get together....it's only something a big fight like this can do.
  15. Because there's no shock value to expectations. Under 200? Over 225 Then everyone goes ape****.
