  1. feel like Twisters is sabotaging itself by releasing one week before Deadpool 3
  2. I think Godzilla will top 70M but of course there will be some fan rush with early Thursday previews and many having Friday off
  3. not to mention for some reasons making the movie “MUTOs with special guest star Godzilla”. It’s like if Jaws was about a giant squid for most of the movie and then they go “oh yeah there is also this other creature out there”
  4. KOTM was hurt by the negative reception to Godzilla 2014. It was tracking for a weak opening before a single review came out
  5. It is kind of interesting they are going with such a big name since no doubt ScarJo would get a hefty paycheck. Guessing the budget of this one has to be larger
  6. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is my favorite of the Monsterverse easily (with Kong Skull Island being decent and honestly I personally don't care for Godzilla 2014 or GvK at all). It's far from perfect and should have dumped those extraneous characters like Thomas Middleditch and Bradley Whitford and maybe make it a bit less dark and rainy but I like the family dynamic with Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown and Vera Farmiga, I think it utilizes the monsters the best, dammit this is probably the only moment out of any of these movies that made feel anything.
  7. interesting thread but I think he is reading too far into it. Many young people simply don't have interest in watching any older movies. It doesn't matter if that movie is dated or not
  8. I would watch Tron 3 on opening night Kosinski was back. I would be really excited if they made Cillian Murphy the bad guy as set up in Legacy. Neither of those are happening so eh
  9. nah. GvK may beat Skull Island but it ain’t touching Godzilla 2014’s 93M opening
  10. even though X-Men in terms of the comics are the most popular in terms of movies they were never the biggest. Easily getting beaten by Spider-Man and later Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and of course The Avengers. Likely being more serious and low scale compared to these other films likely limited their reach
  11. The death of the home media market is definitely a huge blow. I do not think streaming has replaced it
  12. remember this movie that came out ten years ago? It actually did pretty damn good (150M domestic and 288M worldwide on an 85M budget) but the sequels sucked and they made the dumb decision to split the last book into two movies which means after the third one flopped the series had no ending! Lolz. Also the cast is pretty insane looking at it
  13. I will say I go to the movies less but cost is only part of it. Most stuff just doesn't look that appealing these days. Would rather stay home and watch older things I haven't yet seen, Also, getting older is definitely a factor. 10 years ago I probably would have went and saw films like Ghostbusters and Godzilla v Kong even if they got 0% on RT but now I am just "eh"
  14. Blaming the pandemic? Really? I feel like this is just the excuse Hollywood is using to excuse away their bad/unappealing films failing
  15. What this shows me is Hollywood is making less appealing films and star power today is not as strong as it used to be
  16. Yes X men 97 is damn good so far and probably the best Marvel product since Infinity War. I also love how they are continuing off the 90s show and remaining faithful to it but taking it in an even more mature direction. Hope more older shows get that treatment
  17. guessing GB's is doing solidly with families, especially since Kung Fu Panda looks to drop 50%
