A lot of Shang-Chi's showings filled up several days before release. I expect more showtimes to be added soon. At least one more Dolby and one more Digital as we get closer to the release date.

My local Dolby show is already filling up very fast. Can already tell most of it's money will come from IMAX/Dolby/3D here

I feel like the dawn of the internet combined with Netflix changed things forever. People no longer feel the need to go to the theaters for every new movie unless it's some big event or if something is leading up to some huge payoff. Also The theatrical window is much shorter now, which I think plays a huge part also. There are soo many choices now. I personally love going to the theater. I saw Knives out with a sold out crowd & it was a great experience. But yeah I feel like if people aren't really invested in your franchise then they won't go. The pandemic kinda sped up the inevitable....

Where is Bond's young demographic? Is Bond not relatable enough to millennials and gen Z?

I hope the numbers keep going up for Venom! My theater was more packed and on par with Shang-chi business wise.

I saw a tv spot for this during the Dolphins/Raiders game on Sunday and it looked absolutely epic. Cinematography looked breathtaking. I was planning on Dolby but I might have to see this in IMAX.

I kinda agree. I also think there are too many awards shows leading up to the Oscars. Too many precursors that already tell you 90% of the time what is going to win which has made it so boring. Especially with the internet now and people being tapped in more than ever. There is no suspense, no excitement. This is why Parasite winning was such a breath of fresh air. I think the last surprising thing that the general audience can remember happening at the Oscars is The LaLaLand mix up lol.

Unless Eternals is a pop culture phenomenon and penetrates the casuals like Black Panther did or unless it's serious and grounded like The Joker, then I have a hard time seeing the academy nominating it. If it's ok then it will get your typical VE Oscar nom most cbm's get. Let's see if Chloe/Marvel delivers on this one.

Huh? What is up with ERC? Anyway I think the opening weekend for this goes over 100 possibly pre-covid. Matrix is mainstream and had the general audience on lock. I'm not sure I would compare it to Dune but yeah definitely would've been very successful as a theater only exclusive.

the sensitivity over there is astonishing. I feel bad for the MCU fans over there missing out on a legit great film.

Saw this with a very energetic and enthusiastic sold out Dolby crowd. the crowd loved the film and the energy in there was great. Took my Mom & sister. They loved it and we are planning to go again soon. The fighting scenes were amazing, the best in the MCU imo. Loved the story and the action. 8.5 out of 10 for me. Some tiny things I would've changed but other than that it was pretty amazing. Very rewatchable movie. Might bump it up to a 9 once I get a second viewing in. Refreshing movie for the MCU.

It's true and idk why it is because it wasn't always this way. I enjoy the films but you can't help but tell something is off and murky.
