I'm sorry but all of this over Don't Say Gay is kinda dumb. But I guess it's all about proving a point and winning the "culture war" 🙄 -
This seems to be getting a mixed-to-lukewarm response from what I've seen on twitter. Also people I've talked to at work who waited for the max release, they didn't like it. I've seen too many tweets saying rewatching the film at home is making people downgrade their initial rating for it. I personally think it gets better on rewatch. Things I didn't catch during my IMAX showing made me bump up my rating.

While browsing r/boxoffice on Reddit a few months ago, this exact same topic was being discussed. These are pretty good theories IMO. I know some people in that thread talk about No Way Home's underperformance, but the decline started years before that. That's probably also why Hollywood is putting so much more stock and hope into China these days.

I'm kinda surprised by that. Wasn't the OG Spider-Man big over there? I thought the return of Tobey would've atleast given the film an extra push there. Guess not -
Just came back from my IMAX showing and I thought it was pretty good. I still prefer the Nolan films over this though. But it was great to see Batman doing some detective work throughout the entire film. The Batmobile scene chase was my favorite sequence in the film. Good action without being over the top and kept it grounded.

It's pretty crazy how each Spider-Man film kept decreasing domestically until his MCU debut. The ASM movies really got overshadowed by Avengers, TDKR, CAP 2, GOTG, DOFP, etc. I'm thinking back on those films and how much of a non event they were. Seems like you need a good hook if you're gonna reboot. Seeing Spidey interact with characters like Iron Man, Cap, etc was the hook I guess.

Are people expecting The Batman to be super front loaded?? I don't know the history of Batman's internal numbers on OW to determine that but I would expect that it wouldn't be super front loaded right? -
I feel like the hate for this is soooo over the top at the moment. The outrage just seems so manufactured, especially on YouTube. The YouTubers are riding this hate train so hard, on par with the hate train for star wars sequel trilogy. The only legit concern I have for this is it will be great? It needs to be great not good. I said in the Superbowl thread that I hope this universe doesn't turn into Star Wars where the first 3 movies are ground breaking masterpieces and then everything after that is just OK-to-mediocre(even tho the tv side of Star Wars has been killing it).
