  1. is the another marketing campaign from disney for wrinkle in time?? no matter how this idea received?
  2. i don't mind my shows getting interrupted if i just need to pay 9-10 bucks for seeing my celebrity
  3. visual effect winner tends to go with those visual element filled movies with lowest gross among nominees in recent year, like benjamin button, hugo, life of pi, interstellar, ex machina, and now BLADE RUNNER 2049
  4. They gave the nomination to the same bunch of movie for both sound editing and mixing, and the winner is too, the same.....
  5. well, these 2 awards, isn't as surprise as last year, like suicide squad surprised us! and FB too!
  6. meanwhile in china, 2 movies marching toward $500m and another reached $350m..... It's sad to see domestic market is quickly losing its century-long crown......
  7. out of these 7, only 3 billboard's number is impressive to me especially considering the film nearly "dead" in the christmas/NY slaughter, the others were just ok, decent, not great......and CMBYN was bad in term of box office boost post-oscar nom ....
  8. To me, oldman's almost certain win is more like a career win, not a performance win.....since 2 of the nominees has won before, and another 2 has a lot of time to win ahead of them

  11. and this year, oscar BP nominees has longer boosting period due to earlier revelation date of nomination but latter ceremony date last year was from 24/1- 26/2 , vs this year 23/1-4/3

  15. Are the audiences for Jumanji and TGS aware of there is some other new movies out there every week? Do they know black panther is now in release? Why these two movies are so undropable!!!
  16. 1) Lady bird, 9.0/10: consistently awesome but less-thought provoking, proving that a coming-of-age story in an ordinary life can be engaging, not something like boyhood, utterly pointless..... 2) Three Billboard, 8.5/10: Some significant flaw that too hard to ignore, unstable/less-cohesive plot; plenty of scene in the film are way too awesome!!! In a dark comedy that so emotional and full of subtle surprising twist! Another showcase of post-modernism in visual art. 3) The shape of water 8.5/10: Beautiful, romantic, and highly symbolic film, and engaging!! 4) Dunkirk, 8.0/10: Top 3 Nolan's film as a director, bottom 3 nolan's film as a screenwriter. A pure directorship showcase that show a new direction for war film and so brilliantly visualized in a most sophisticated way yet emotional unsatisfying . 5) The post, 7.0/10: Way too oscar-bait but at least is a decent film, which turn a docu-drama into a thrilling drama. 6) Get out, 6.5/10: Smart west-wing racism concept in an unthrilling yet well-written thriller. 7) Darkest Hour 6.0/10: Basically is a gary oldman solo showcase, he is too good, is a kind of make you speechless acting performance. I didnt watch phantom thread and call me by ur name

  18. I think the oscar's will have more impact for Best picture nominees than others on sunday, since the people who cares about the oscar will then watch the telecast and not going for those BP nominees in cinema.....
  19. A24 has been fully committed in Lady bird's oscar campaign, maybe is out of their capacity to campaign for 2 oscar movies in a year
  20. In the case of Oscar this year, sow could reach 65m if SOW is the eventual winner while 3Billboard could challenge 12 years a slave 57m if it win. If lady bird pull an upset over both, 50m would be easily achieved
