I left the theatre 2 hours ago but still don't really know how to feel about the movie. I saw it in HFR 3D opposed to variable FR, as I thought it would be, and I literally needed until the last 15 minutes or so to get used to it. I don't know if I did something wrong or the cinema did, or if HFR just isn't for me, but that truly hurt my cinema experience... I don't think it'd be fair to rate the movie in this state - but at least I might be one of them who rewatch and if only to see how good it *really* is (the effects seemed strangely bad sometimes with HFR as seemed the flow of movement, and just in the end (and in very still close-up moments) I really saw how good they were). The final act was great, though, even with things being rough for me so that convinced me that the movie might deserve the rewatch and a rethink Not a spoiler in that sense, I think, but still:

Sooo, I hope this isn't already too detailed. I really looked forward to the score and felt quite disappointed, sadly, and the blatant re-use of themes was a part of that. They didn't seem transformed in any way but just the same as in the first (even down to orchestration and voices, if I'm not mistaken), and that really took me out sometimes. I mean, I think that was a deliberate choice to highlight certain things in context to the first one but I didn't like it. Though that might just be me. And the things Franglen wrote weren't very recognizable to me, so I don't think he did himself a favor having them side by side (hope that doesn't sound too rude 😬)

A little more than 18 hours until I'll see it. Just finished watching the first one again in preparation (it would have been great if they'd shown the Ultimate Edition in the re-release too). I'm so very ready for more Pandora

Well, MarkG from InsideKino believes it'll reach 8,4M admissions, which would probably at least be anything between €105M-€115M+ ($110M-$120M+) - I really don't know what TP to expect. But he tends to be quite optimistic - the user average on the InsideKino forum is 6,8M for example. I would say though that 7,5M+ and $100M+ should be the absolute minimum and more will happen 👀

Thursday #1 OP:Red 95k [€1,3M] #2 Schule der magischen Tiere 32,5k (+63%) [€240k] #3 Smile 30k (+43%) [€265k] #4 Halloween Ends 27k [€250k] #5 Ticket to paradise 13k (+0%) [€120k] The OD for Red is obviously great - coming this close to 100k doesn't happen too often atm - especially not in only 399 theaters. As for Halloween ends, its predecessor had 20k OD last year so either it actually benefited from Smile doing good or from the holidays being in place right now.
