  1. I'm lowering my original prediction for Free State of Jones and increasing the one for The Shallows ID4- $40M (I may even go lower closer to the release date The Shallows- $21M (if it gets good reviews and good WOM I think this will go up) Free State of Jones- $9M (I see promo for it but I don't see any buzz for it) Neon Demon- $1M
  2. On this day 41 years ago Jaws, the greatest shark movie ever (maybe even greatest movie ever) was released. Just wanted to throw that out there.
  3. Promo for The Shallows has begun. Blake Lively is doing her 10 outfit changes in one day trick...again. Making sure to be all over the place. I wonder if that actually works or do like people just become sick of seeing the same person over and over again. I guess it's foreshadowing of what's to come in the film
  4. Deadpool does wear a red suit so bad guys can't see him bleed so it works!
  5. The budget has not come out yet but I read on Variety that the Australian government is paying for some of it. And yes the Lively-Reynolds family is probably the best looking family in Hollywood. Spoiler alert: Deadpool makes a cameo at the end and saves his wife. She's a damsel in distress after all.
  6. With the Purge being its target audience. Honestly I have no idea what to expect in terms of its box office run. It could be a sleeper hit or it could get loss in the shuffle. It's OW I don't think will go above $20M regardless of anything. I think if it's a good film though, good WOM will propel it to have really good legs. The last time Blake Lively was the main star of a film it opened at $13.5M and went onto gross $42.5M or something like that with mediocre reviews. At the end of the day though, I just hope this film is a good one.
  7. Legs only matter to the Marvel fanboys when they try calling BvS a flop but they're irrelevant when talking about CW.
  8. ID4- $43M The Shallows-$19.5M Free State of Jones-$14M Neon Demon-$1.5M
  9. But do you think it would have been able to compete against the Purge and Tarzan the weekend it was set to release. A guy at Forbes said one of the reasons they may have changed it is to take advantage of a second weekend that would be a holiday one instead of having it be its first weekend. I don't know. I'm not a fan either. They should have either left it at June 24th to begin with or just stuck to the June 29th release date because now it leaves people confused unless they plan to have a really good marketing push this week. I mean I guess at least Blake Lively is gonna make it onto the Tonight Show
  10. Oh wow. I didn't know that. Oops. It wasn't private when I posted it. I guess Sony decided to make it private for some reason. Here's one that's not private:
  11. Frozen 2 is going to be the film that breaks this. It's been like two years and I still deal with the Elsa and Anna crap. Everywhere I go I see Frozen. It's a global brand and if there is any animated film that will beat Dory, it's it.
  12. $17-19M for Free State of Jones and $20-23M for The Shallows. I think they'll both have decent runs at the box office because they're "different." The former will bring out the history buffs and the latter will have all the female millennials rushing to see Serena Van Der Woodsen and the shark fans, like myself.
  13. $105? That's the price of a soda and nachos at the theaters. Biggest box office bomb of all time is happening folks.
  14. Just a warning, this video has some spoilers in it, or at least gives you more of the story which is pretty much spoiling the film but if you want to see how the shark looks in action and swimming then watch towards the end of it. Edit: video turned out to be private. Posted on page 13 instead.
  15. This has absolutely zero to do with Jaws. The only similarities is that both of them have sharks in them.
  16. I want this movie to be good so i can get more intense shark thrillers in the future and not Sharnado type crap. I feel like if this movie is terrible, that won't happen. Please be good, damn it.
  17. The Discovery Channel has this 360 interactive video of a great white shark in "The Shallows." I guess they want to include this film as part of their shark week line-up. A little ironic if you think about it.
  18. I know. I was just making an observation that I've seen more TV spots for this and Free State of Jones than for the $200M budgeted film coming out the same weekend.
  19. It hasn't been released yet but on Variety it says the Australian government can cover some of the costs because it was filmed there. That's what I'm saying. I've literally not seen one TV spot for ID and all I've been watching lately is ESPN and the NBA Finals. But I think they will. Discovery Channel's Twitter already tweeted about the film. Ironic if you think about it I personally think Sony realized their film has a better chance to go up against ID than the Purge as their release dates neared. However it was also brought up that it could be just that theater counts are dropping next weekend for some films. Who knows.
