Considering it had lower previews numbers than everything except FB (which opened to $20m less and will make more this w/e)  - the 55% drop looms even larger in comparison.

    FB made $78m after a $45m Thanksgiving w/e.

    JL with $42m w/e = $172.8m after Thanksgiving

If JL comes in at $42m -  if it has the same legs from now as FB (which it's shown no sign of so far)  that would mean  93.33 % x $78m = $72.8m more for a $245.6m total.

245?2.6x, I’ll take it as 700mil+ ww will definitely be it’s final gross.

Why are you using MJ2's OS/Dom split? We know JL's OS/Dom split so far which is 65/35 which is very close to that of BvS.

Assuming a Dom total of 250 and using that split gives an OS total of 465 and WW total of 715. This OS is far more likely at this point than 500 given JL's drop till wednesday so far in OS markets.

That’s still better than most thought  it would be after that opening.

    JL 281/715 = 2.4x

    BVS 424/874= 2.06x

BVS added 450mil after its opening

JL would add 434mil after its opening

WB is heading in the right direction as far as reception goes.

JL's numbers are alternating between Good and Bad each day.

Bad Monday Drop, great Tues increase, bad Wed drop, Good Wed Hold.

Btw i think Coco is affecting Wonder more than JL.

Where do you think  this will put JL Second Weekend At?

Its hard to say if it’s gonna get FB or MJ2 Friday increase.

100,000. That’s like what... a million dollars in ticket sales. That’s nothing.

I guess but who knows how many repeat viewings or how many also feels this way.

Im not making excuses for this film I just brought up a point as it seems some hated BVS and stayed home and Some Hated Joss Whedon taking over and stayed home.

Also many are saying they knew since the run time was too short that WB did Another BVS and cut the story down.

Ill admit they did this as it clear as pleasant day the film is missing a few story beats(not saying it’s a total mess).

Uphill battle is the perfect way to describe it.

    It probably would've done worse.

Seriously, Snyder directed a movie so poorly received that a Justice League movie is now on track to gross less than a Thor sequel and something called Guardians of The Galaxy.

JL at best is OK. If Snyder came back and gave us yet another BVS disaster do you think this thing would even touch $650m?

Put it this way in less than 3days 100,000 fans signed the Directors cut petention.

Many people are saying they skipped out of JL because they Knew WB cut je story up just by looking at the run time.

Maybe Many Things didn’t work in a JL favors and not Showing Superman May have been one of them.

But we will never know what could’ve been W/WO Whedon.

A similar release date to BvS didn't hurt Beauty and the Beast.  Batman v Superman was an unbelievably bad movie that had unbelievably bad reception.  There isn't even an argument to the contrary at this point.

BVS is a Comic book movie that’s traditionally front loaded.

Summer helps these films out on a serious note.

SM:HC dropped 62% in its second weekend and the film didn’t even feel it and still got close to a 3x.That doesn’t happen when films drop 60% in its second weekend.

It doesnt matter where and when a Movie - or CBM - is released. If it gets great WOM it will be succesfull. Deadpool might be the best example for this.

JL just isnt getting the reception to do these kinds of numbers. Add to that the toxic reception of BvS (and SS) and you have an underperformer. Release dates have nothing to do with it.

This is why you need Strategy.

Putting a sequel to a film with BVS Reception in the middle of all these other films was not a good ideal ,period.

BVS pretty much had a dead Spring. It had no problem until Jungle Book and if good it could’ve co exist with Zootopia. Had BVS been good it’s legs would’ve been better.

Again, regardless of release date, the Avengers and TDK series would’ve been big. Yes the summer is a historic spot for blockbusters but it doesn’t matter tbh. Star Wars has the biggest OW ever with a winter release.

There’s still school going on and nobody is on vacation.

Sure it’s empty as far as films goes but most people aren’t going to the movies which is why the dates were empty in the first place.

Brainiac might have a point though. Maybe WB should be content having that pre-Thanksgiving slot every other year for their Fantastic Beasts movies and keep their DC movies to the summer (We know anything Batman does well in the summer) or March or something.

BVS originally had July as it’s release date and in that same spot Batman made a Billion twice .

If it was me ?Thats where I want to be but since we got Spiderman this year ...August would’ve been most likely where it would’ve been.

There's plenty of billion dollar non summer movies and the top three films all came out between November and end of December.  WB didn't make a mistake releasing it around Thanksgiving, it's a terrific spot to release it in.  The problem with JL is that everyone hated BvS so this film is paying for the sins of that one.  This film isn't hated, not in the way that the last one was.  The release date is fine and releasing it in the summer wouldn't have made a difference.

If there's interest in a film, people will go no matter when it's released.

I said “Non summer Billion dollar CBM’s”

We all know these films are going to be frontloaded and Summer helps out in the long run when kids are out of schools then when they are in.

Look at it this way ,WB put BVS and JL on dates that traditional have bad 2nd and 3rd Weekend drops. They knew this when they claimed the dates.

WB would never had seen IT do 123/328. Else they would have let JL release in early 2018 imo. JL was supposed to be their biggie. WONDR's 410+ was unprecedented too. Next year looks weak in comparison.

Precisely,So you give that film the Best release date amongst all your releases.

I know what they are doing and that’s putting the  film they believe is going to need the most help on the best dates.

JL should’ve had the August date and IT should’ve had a date closer to Holloween or The March date.

Not even the summer would’ve helped imo. Odds are not matter how good WW was, BVS did a lot of damage to JL, not to mention WB dropping the ball on marketing and the reviews weren’t good.

Studios like that pre Thanksgiving spot a lot. WB due to past hits thought JL was good to go.

The Summer would’ve helped the films Legs as it is better received than BVS.

WB shot themselves im the foot as They put the film in the middle of a battle with its release date.

MThey did the same thing to BVS as well.

How many non summer Billion dollar CBM’s are there?Theres a reason why Disney keeps thier biggest tentpole in the summer and it’s not just because it’s a pretty day.

WB needs better  Strategy going forward as even a bad film can make a lot of money.

They should be kicking themselves for making a crappy movie.

It’s not like the film is crappy it just can’t stand up to the competition that it is faced with.

    Thor,Wonder,Co-Co .

I can see WB looking over Wonder but I can’t see them looking over Co-Co and Thor.

Some tried to tell me how bad this was but I didn’t listen.

WB has to be kicking itself for putting out JL when they did. The kids they would want are going to Wonder and Coco (both of which are getting a better reception than their own studios dreamed of). The adults they would want are going to see real, legitimate movies. And the people who want a good superhero movie are stiil going to Ragnarok  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If JL had the opening weekend of let’s say 150 and it earns a 2.5x then JL could’ve grossed 375 dom.

If you give it the same dom/O.S  ratio it has now then JL WW total could’ve looked like this 1,071bil.

Initially, I thought it was a good release date but now  have come to understand it wasn’t.

Dceu films needs the summer to see their full potential and I hope WB realize this soon.

If they are gonna do a WW and JL2

movie in one year then JL2 should be its summer release.

It almost seems as if they want the films to

    be front-loaded.

    JL: $122,351,643 after 6 days

    Mj2: 136,225,792 after 6 days

MJ2 made 76 in is thanksgiving 5 days, JL is expected to do around 63/64, it could be 22+m behind by monday without showing reason why it would have particularly better legs to regain much ground over time.

Ceiling could rapidly become around 265, Coco/Wonder will be high quality competition for family audience.

265 with the same dom/o.s ratio gives JL 795mill ww with a good chance at 800mil.

Not what any of us expected but after the disaster that was JL opening weekend I’ll say 800mil ww is more than a respectable outcome.
