  1. After watching The Book Of Life today, I sort of want to revive a Jorge R Gutierrez project I had brewing but one of the three animated films I had would be pushed back.
  2. I’m 19, I never said they were classics, I was just pointing out good mainstream animation that’s happened recently, ie (2010-2019). Fun fact: I originally wanted to go into the animation field growing up.
  3. Captain Underpants was a delightful trip down memory lane as was a really fun movie. Probably DWA’s best full on comedy since Kung Fu Panda 1. The Wimpy Kid trilogy were also guilty pleasures (not number 4 though).
  4. I’m so happy neither of my little cousins were into Peppa Pig.
  5. Sort of wrong. WDAS has been nailing it though with Zootopia, Wreck It Ralph, Tangled and Moana. Pixar also has Coco and Inside Out, both of which are in my top 5 for Pixar. Dreamworks’ Dragon series as well as Kung Fu Panda 2 are excellent. The Lego Movie, Kubo and The Two Strings, Rango, Tintin, The Book of Life, The Peanuts Movie, and Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, as well as some others I forgot Also shame on you for forgetting Ratatouille as it’s Pixar best.
  6. Exactly. All I was saying is with Pets 2 looking at a steep decrease, I wonder if the Illumination brand is starting to weaken with the GA. I despise Illumination as they help perpetuate the animation for kids stereotype. But I’d be a fool to deny they don’t have power amongst the GA
  7. I meant with the GA, as in general audience. Illumination hasn’t made a good film outside of DM1 and Sing.
  8. Not to mention putting it in the middle of Endgame and TS4. Disney+ could’ve lived w/o Aladdin for a year and had Disney had this for 2020 it would’ve dominated.
  9. As someone who enjoyed SS heavily in a so bad it’s good way, this is a very valid point.
  10. I can’t stand for all this SS trash talk when it’s probably the best CBM of 2016. Also why are we talking CBMs in the Aladdin thread?
  11. I honestly don’t get why Aladdin would be more walkup friendly than Dumbo or Christopher Robin either. Something along the lines of Incredibles 2 (which proved to be a great comparison for Pikachu btw) seems right as I imagine the female demographic skewed tickets and has wayyyyyy more older audience than an animated movie or even Dumbo/CR. That said I’m expecting a $100M-$115M 4 Day.
  12. Who the hell said Illumination was good? ^^^* This
  13. Minions 2 I have no doubt is going sub $200M. DM3 was more or less DM4 for the GA. Sing 2 I thought had the potential to pull a DM2 jump as legs were great but I wonder if the 5 year jump will hurt rather than help. DM4 will happen eventually. Mario I can easily seeing it being a $400M/$1B grosser if good and there’s a lot of elbow room franchise wise. They could do a Mario Universe. They also have a Pharrell Williams musical as well.
  14. Lack of big movies in November, Disney doesn’t have to juggle three major films, the fact that both trailer views are good and the lack of big blockbusters for all ages since TLK.
  15. You know, apart from Frozen 2 and TS4 likely gargantuan grosses, animation hasn’t been as strong as it was in 2016. Hoping 2020 changes that. As for Pets 2 I think it’ll be fine though it’s looking to have a massive decrease as it’s the first animated film since Dragon 3, The Lorax numbers seems right. Makes you wonder if Illumination may start to slowly lose it’s touch though.
  16. Fallen Kingdom was good though. Tons of movies I disliked made money. But does that means Minions is better than Kubo? Certainly not.
  17. And I liked Pikachu way more than it. Personally I think it’s bad, there’s scores I agree with on RT like Black Panther and scores I disagree with like BATB 2017. This is just my opinion of course as film is subjective. Not saying you can’t like BATB 2017 of course, for me it was probably one of the worst films of 2017. But that’s thing it’s not good. Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon and even Christopher Robin were the good ones to me. I’m giving my personal opinion, I’m not saying no one can enjoy it, I just think BaTB is a bad movie.
  18. Speaking of... Daron Nefcy will only be receiving an executive producer credit for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and... Dana, as the studio will use a different script.
