To be honest, I still think it’s scheduling. Between Pikachu and TS4, a new 4 quad $150M+ aiming family film opens in the span of 8 weeks, every two weeks. We shouldn’t even be considering sub $200M a possibility, had Disney had this for 2020, and was exactly the same, it would’ve dominated that year.
I doubt any average member of the GA knows a Digimon by name. Digimon just doesn’t have that relevancy.
Hell, the Digimon movie did less WW than the Pokémon 2000 did OW.
I’d argue Aladdin would be much more previews based than the average family film. Not as much as Pikachu or Incredibles 2 so to speak but I’d imagine if it appeals primarily to the female demographic, the previews would be more inflated.
Though I agree, $60M OW is the absolute worst for Aladdin. I still think it’ll be around $75M-$90M OW.
It’s not because of Pikachu believe it or not (I started to 180 as soon as tracking/Endgame opened), it’s the sheer amount, I have made two clubs focusing on Aladdin being outgrossed, I think like three Pikachu clubs, and two contradictory Toy Story 4 clubs.
Also I buy me being a curse for WB family films.
@DeeCee @aabattery and any other mods:
Is it possible that you can stop me from making clubs? I have made way too much and they tend to annoy everyone.
I think I’m doing Power Pack this year but should it be animated or live action? I am leaning towards the latter as Endless Entertainment is probably most known for family fare anyways and the Pokémon franchise is doing good with a PG rating.
Under $300M let alone talks of sub $200M, shouldn’t be possible, this got a very tepid response at my Pikachu screening (then again My Spy was the only thing with a good reaction). Disney should have eased up and instead of being big, greedy and schedule controlling, this would’ve dominated 2020 especially without Avatar 2.
But on the bright side, other than The Little Mermaid, Lilo and Stitch and Mulan will likely be the last big ones until Disney tries to do this crap again in the late 2030s.
As for legs I think I’m on @JohnnyGossamer and @cdsacken side on legs being average. Doesn’t have much rewatch value and I’m not sure about kids flocking to it.
