I still think it'll do fine against Wonder Woman. Remember Trolls and Peanuts did $45M+ OW, against Doctor Strange and Spectre.

Although I've been wrong before (Lego Batman over $300M domestic), I have been right about some breakouts here people weren't expecting like Logan, Boss Baby and Sing. Some people are calling me crazy when I said there was a possibility where The Star (from Sony Animation) breaks out. Again, don't be surprised if The Lion King does $650M+ domestic, or when Black Panther does $350M+ domestic.

Me, @franfar @The Panda of the Caribbean and a few others were calling $500M+ domestic for a while for Beast.

So judging from totals so far: Worst Case: $365M from NA + $95M from China + $355M from OS ='$815M Best Case: $380M from NA + $97M-$100M from China + $383M from OS = $860M Although, GV2 didn't take home the record for $1B like many thought it would (myself included), it is the only MCU film to do $800M without Iron Man/The Avengers, and would be the highest grossing CBM without Batman/Iron Man/Spider-Man.

GV2 reached $47M USD in the U.K. now.

When looking at like-for-like markets, the drop-off was 46% from last frame. IMAX play was good for $5M on 883 screens worldwide. That lifts the total in the format to $55M to make it the 2nd movie to cross $50M for IMAX this year. China is still the top hub overall with $94.2M (650M RMB), passing the entire run of GOTG1in local currency. The UK ($47M), Russia ($26M), Germany ($25.5M) and Australia ($22.2M) round out the Top 5. Adding to titles GOTG2 has surpassed internationally, it’s now topped Logan ($381M), Deadpool ($420M) and Suicide Squad ($421M). Globally, it’s beaten Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714M), Doctor Strange ($678M) and Thor: The Dark World ($645M).

Except for maybe the Avengers series, it's hard to pull off $600M OS minus China for a CBM.

Not saying it will, the OW range is likely $30M-$45M for CU, with an outside shot at $50M+ if they ramp up marketing these next few weeks and it gets good reviews. Compared to Coco, Ninjago, Emoji, and Ferdinand, this has been getting better views. One clip got over 6.5M views.

Not saying we should automatically expect over $150M for CU, but we've (most of us) have underestimated DWA films domestically these past few years even the ones with bad and/or little to no marketing.

Even if it was a Marvel movie, CU would be enough to stop $150M OW from happening, since families are going to jump to the more kid friendly option. Remember WW is tracking the most at males over 25 too.

I think there's enough room for both. However CU will likely prevent WW from doing $150M OW. The family market has been starved for a new movie. It wouldn't surprise me if we got a Strange/Trolls redux box office wise, except a higher OW for Wonder Woman.

Just putting this out here: Black Panther will be 2018's GOTG/Deadpool/Wonder Woman big breakout superhero movie hit domestically.
