  1. HT should do okay, probably around £2-2.5m for the weekend. Given that Frankenweenie underperformed in the US, I have low expectations for it doing well especially against Madagascar and HT.
  2. £1.5m seem a bit high considering its been out a few days, £1m is likely I agree.
  3. Skyfall and to an extent PA4 will hurt Taken 2's legs, we saw with TASM how it fell when TDKR debuted, the same will probably happen to Taken 2 when Skyfall opens in two weeks.
  4. How well does The BFI IMAX do in comparison, I know they tend to sell out when they have big films like Prometheus and TDKR but they're single screen so are limited to what they can show,
  5. Cineworld do very well with Sheffield, Glasgow and Dublin as the busiest in the top five. The Vue in Westfield Stratford has done well considering they've only been open a few months and I guess at lower prices compared to Odeon Leceister Square,
  6. I'm surprised they've not opted for a Wednesday opening. I'm not expecting ROTK numbers as that was the final film in the trilogy but it should crack £10-12m with ease, it doesn't have much competition apart from Life of Pi and Jack Reacher so it should have legs.
  7. Skyfall will probably have the highest three day weekend of the year until The Hobbit arrives, currently its The Dark Knight Rises which did £14.3m so I expect Skyfall will be £15-16m.
  8. I know the Vues at Westfield do well but not this well, kind of surprised the Odeon in Leceister Square isn't in the top five.
  9. Interesting that Blue Sky are releasing a film outside of Spring and Summer, it'll be odd seeing the characters in CG and they've always worked best as shorts.
  10. Untouchable had a good drop, it should hit £1m soon which for a foreign film is very good, it was never going to hit the heights of other countries. Brave and Paranorman have had good runs but both will be hit by Hotel Transylvania, Madagascar 3 and Frankenweenie which will sastify the kid audience.2012 has been good considering that 2011 was an extraordinary year with lots of successes especially on the British film front and there wasn't competition from the Olympics and Euro 2012 which hurt June and August and a weak September saved only by Looper. This month, November and December should be strong.
  11. £16-17m is very likely for Taken 2. PA4 I think it'll be £3-3.5m opening, Madagascar I think £5-6m with previews. Frankenweenie I think £1.5-2m five days.
  12. I reckon Taken 2 will do £2.5m for the three day weekend next week, probably be hard to predict HT's OW given Mad 3 has previews but I think £2-2.5m OW depending on how it does Sat-Sun as I imagine it's not going to have much of an audience on its Opening Day.
  13. The numbers for Taken 2 are very good, above my expectations. Sunday will drop but a £1.5-1.6m Sunday would put it at roughly £6.8-6.9m four days and £5.7m for the three day weekend. I imagine even with a 60-65% drop it could still be number one ahead of Hotel Transylvania and Madagascar 3 previews but depends how they perform. What are we thinking for Taken 2's final total? I think it'll land in the £16-17m as it faces PA4 in a week and a half then Skyfall, £20m is probably unlikely unless it has good drops.
  14. £5-6m would be great for Taken 2 but won't have legs. I'm expecting a 60% drop next week. I like 3D but it has to worth the money, I find animated films and certain action films are great in 3D.
  15. Only pay full money for IMAX and that's only maybe once or twice a year. Nothing could beat seeing The Dark Knight Rises and Mission Impossible on that screen,
  16. I suppose I'm lucky that my local shows a mix of smaller films and blockbusters but it's 10 screens so they can have more selection unlike 4-6 screen cinemas.
  17. I find Cineworld tend to show a broader range of films compared to other chains. My biggest surprises were smaller films like Untouchable, Shadow Dancer rather than blockbusters. I do occasionally pay for films like at the IMAX but the experience at the IMAX is worth every penny.
  18. Yup, it's is a great investment and I've been able to watch films which I wouldn't normally watch had I paid actual money like Untouchable plus discounts on food and the screenings.
  19. I'm in London as well, I tend to visit Cineworld at the O2 or West India Quay.
  20. Cineworld have less cinemas but there are number 1 in terms of attendance.
  21. Some people moan about multiplexes but I think they have their advantages to show a lot more choices for audiences, don't get me wrong, I do like places like the Cineworld Haymarket, the Prince Charles or IMAX but it must be frustating to have to get rid of a film that is doing well in favour of a new release which may not do the business,
  22. Must suck for staff to have showings that late. I remember when I was in NY, they had showings for films as late as 0130 but NY got 24 hour public transport which London and other UK cities don't have.
  23. Any screenings post 10pm must be on weekends only and only in places with decent night transport although if it's a big film and there's demand, I can see the logic behind late screenings although quarter to 12 is pushing it as you wouldn't get out until about 0130ish.
  24. £1.5m is probably too high, £1m I think it is likely but it'll get killed by PA4 in two weeks.
  25. I do like the Ice Age films but the fourth one felt like they run out of ideas, I do want a fifth film so they can end it on a high note,
