  1. The overseas reception is pretty bad so far. The RT score doesn't change that fact. The RT score won't change anything one way or the other because it isn't high enough nor is it low enough.
  2. I don't care if it's from the comics, I hate that cheesy and cringe tagline so much. "Higher, Further, Faster" sounds like a dumb slogan for a multi-level marketing scheme.
  3. Stop being hyperbolic. The genre isn't dead just because The Marvels and Aquaman 2 flop. People just aren't blindly seeing everything anymore because of COVID, bad movies and oversaturation. Studios have to actually try to make unique and good comic book movies now.
  4. The overseas numbers are not looking pretty so far. And unless you are a Christmas release like Aquaman only live action comic book movies with very good reviews like Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1, Black Panther, Avengers and the like have over 3.0 multipliers. Even with Endgame's help and better reviews Captain Marvel only managed a 2.76 multiplier. The truth is unless The Marvels does something unprecedented, the movie will be lucky to get a 2.6 multiplier and that's not good enough when we are talking a 40-55M opening weekend.
  5. I didn't say that was happening. Did you misread my post? Or were you just agreeing in your own words?
  6. IGN are MCU shills which is why they should be ignored but my over all opinion is to believe most of the critics that liked the film liked it for legitimate reasons and most of the critics who disliked it disliked it for legitimate reasons. I don't see signs of a conspiracy one way or the other.
  7. I disagree that a fresh rating would have saved The Marvels. It needed legit good reviews not just a 61-63% on RT. Like an 85 on RT with a 7/10 average and a 70 on Metacritic. A mere fresh rating didn't save Flash and it won't save this film. The interest is too low for that to happen.
  8. I hate those overly dramatic articles. No theaters aren't back to normal and they probably never will be but they'll keep chugging along.
  9. Eternals deserves its poor reviews but is it still a bummer to me, solely based on optics, that 2 out of the 3 lowest rated MCU films are directed by women and women of color no less? Yes, it is a huge bummer. I don't think that reviewers should pretend to like a movie based on optics though. And despite people with nefarious motives claiming that they do, reviewers don't do that and they shouldn't.
  10. I don't care about shipping but a lot of people on social media demonized romance in movies staring women for years and I hate that. I don't care if it is straight or queer, romances should be allowed in female led action films. Not every film of course and they should obviously be done well.
  11. Nobody cares about shipping. This is the most uninteresting conversation ever.
  12. I can't speak on The Marvels because I haven't seen it but Eternals was not pretty good to me. It was at best aggressively mediocre.
  13. I'm sure the 0 out of 4 reviews are exaggerating but so are places like IGN which has given every single Marvel movie a 7 and above. Every single MCU film. That's just ridiculous.
  14. As always I will wait for the actual reviews with Marvel/comic book movies in general.
  15. I get what you are saying but Wanda was a movie character, not a Disney Plus character. Grown up Maria and especially Ms Marvel are seen as television characters because that's where they started.
  16. Television and films are amazing yet separate things. Mixing them together wasn't smart. It was never smart.
  17. Who cares if the Avengers trailer is dated? Were they supposed to make a 2023 trailer in 2012? Time machines don't exist. I'm not even in love with The Avengers but that dated trailer helped it open with 207M. Our personal opinions don't matter, the results speak for themselves.
  18. The Avengers opened with 207M. It is silly to argue that the trailers were bad.
  19. I don't get how the critics saying that Brie Larson is good in The Marvels will mean anything? They said that she was good in Captain Marvel, so what would them saying that again change?
  20. I should have specified live action. Animated movies almost always have a legs advantage.
  21. Have reviews ever saved a low opening comic book movie not named Batman Begins? I keep seeing people saying reviews could save it and compare it to a Pixar movie but comic book movies don't have Pixar style legs unless they are released around Christmas time. Reviews didn't save Superman Returns and a few other comic book films, so why would they save this one?
  22. Yeah. I suspect they wanted to cast really young like they did with Black Widow. A beautiful young blond Oscar winner playing your big lead female hero is just perfect on paper. I totally get why Marvel cast Larson.
