  1. I see absolutely no proof that this film was a co-production with Marvel Studios, so I don't know where anyone is getting that from. The Spider-Man movies look like MCU movies, Madame Web does not.
  2. I disagree. Not everyone gets to see a film at the exact same time. Also, the film still has a 62% score. I don't see what the problem is?
  3. The B Cinemascores tell the real story. Whether you personally agree or not most people did not think that Marvel released a bunch of substandard movies in phase 1,2&3, hence why there is only one B+ Cinemascore from 2011 before Eternals crapped the bed. Now two of their films in one year have awful B-cinemscores. Not even B+ but a B. That's a drop in quality. That's a drop in confidence. You can't ignore that and say that it had no effect.
  4. They made people love a god (Thor), you'd think they'd understand how to make Carol interesting and relatable. I can't comment on the sequel yet but they seemed terrified of giving her true vulnerabilities in the original film, beyond she has to learn how to not hold back. Very weird mistake from Marvel who, if nothing else, are usually really great at making you like their superhero leads.
  5. I agree the oversaturation of the MCU brand and honestly the weak movies did hurt The Marvels the most but Carol Danvers being a weak lead MCU character definitely effected the box office of the sequel as well. This isn't about the YouTube CHUDS, it's just obvious that Carol Danvers as a character didn't hit. You can blame that on the writing or Larson's performance or both but the fact remains she's just not a well liked character.
  6. I know that we all saw this coming due to the dismal early ticket sales but it is still legitimately insane seeing just how poorly The Marvels did over its opening five days worldwide.
  7. And I found it eye rollingly annoying how Quantumania's horrendous post opening weekend box office was swept under the rug by so many people because Guardians 3 had legs. Now that movie has come back to bite Marvel in the ass.
  8. Because of the Holidays, I see it getting at least a 2.2 multi. So I believe it will hit 100 million.
  9. The Marvels was a "wacky space adventure" because of the success of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1. James Gunn and Nicole Perlman were so influential to the MCU. No way Thor Ragnarok exists without the success of Guardians.
  10. Seeing someone say that the Abyss getting a one night only event is going to hurt Aquaman 2 is funny because the Abyss was a notorious bomb, which is why it's just getting one night. I think The Abyss is a good movie by the way so that's no disrespect to it but it has never been popular.
  11. I mean it is true but it is not something to celebrate. That's more of an indictment on Hollywood's white boys club than anything else.
  12. The predominant audience is male and watched Football on Sunday so yeah, that looks about right.
  13. Secret Invasion was so singularly awful that if anybody had actually watched it, I would blame it entirely for The Marvels bombing this weekend.
  14. I'm not saying this is a good thing so don't yell at me but I believe that after the failure of Birds of Prey and The Marvels, you will never see another BIG BUDGET all female Super Hero team again. You'll still get female led Superhero projects of course because Wonder Woman 2017 and Captain Marvel were smash hits but the all female team thing is dead.
  15. All I'll say is that I don't have any men hobbies. I'm a woman. Any of my hobbies, including playing video games, is a woman hobby by virtue of it being my hobby.
  16. I like Brie Larson, she seems like a cool chick but does anyone really believe that she could get a Jennifer Lawrence on the Hot Ones type meme going? Because I don't. She's just not that kind of interviewee.
  17. Nobody is saying cast interviews add no money but if you think that The Marvels missed out on a billion dollars because Brie Larson and the rest of the cast didn't get to do chat shows that nobody watches anymore then I'm going to laugh at you. Five Nights At Freddy's opened with 80M without the chat shows. Stars are important (I think getting an absolute nobody to play the villain was a huge mistake) but the Marvel IP is more important. There was a fundamental disinterest in The Marvels and ignoring that won't change that fact.
  18. Saying that a movie will be reevaluated in 10 years and disliked solely because you don't like it is such a weird egocentric opinion to me. Egocentrism is pretty much what social media was built on though so I guess I should expect those kinds of opinions.
  19. I'm a woman. I've been a gamer for 35 years and I loved the comic book movie boom but I always knew that I was in the minority. Yes, I do like female led content but I'm under no delusions. I've looked at the demographics and most comic book movies have like a 60% male lean, if not a little more. Yes female led comic book movies can be successful but it is more difficult for them because of the genre. And filmmakers do have to take that into consideration when they're making these female led movies. I'm not talking about pandering to chuds by the way. I don't care what those YouTube creeps have to say about anything. I'm talking about normal people.
  20. Because the claim from this film's supporters is that it was made by women, for women. Shouldn't more women have shown up then?
