  1. Since this film was announced, I had a bad feeling about it. I want to be wrong because I am a TC fan. Joseph Konsinski sure makes beautiful films, I must say. I wasn't hype, but now I'm a little hype. They probably should have waited until Christmas to release this trailer, though?
  2. Well... I didn’t fall asleep and it didn’t have any cringeworthy humor. So, I would call it the best Transformers movie. I would also say it’s ok, not great.
  3. I have a ticket to see this at an early-access screening tonight. I'm just excited to see A movie at this point. Been a slow few weeks.
  4. I saw this last night, reluctantly. I was impressed. Definitely better than I thought it would be based on the trailer. It has some problems, though. I would give it a B+. Only checked my watch once. I saw it in Dolby Cinema at AMC and it’s worth it.
  5. Let me just say, I do enjoy listening to Chris McQuarrie. I have listened to countless podcasts and I find him candid, insightful, and engaging. Maybe it is just a case of him being put into the Tom Cruise machine. But, the writing in Fallout disappointed me greatly. My sister avoided Fallout altogether because of the "I'm jumping out of a window" line in the trailer. She insisted if they put it in the trailer, they think it's funny and that's an indication of the writing we can expect. She was right. Then, I listened to a podcast where even Chris admitted the audience wasn't laughing where he expected them to (the bathroom scene where Tom Cruise goes Jerry Maguire with the "I don't know what I'm getting into?"). He thought that was funny and the audience was silent. His humor is cheesy and I would like to see him away from the "PG-13 action with forced comedy" genre. Tom...I feel like he is too far gone. But, if he is going to stay in the "PG-13 action with forced comedy" genre, he needs to find someone that doesn't write over-the-top, corny dialogue. I have had a nagging bad feeling about TG2 since it was announced. McQuarrie writing on it I don't guess could make it any worse.
  6. Ugh. I want Tom and Chris to take a break from each other. Sorry, but I don’t get the Chris McQuarrie thing. His writing is very cheesy to me.
  7. Just saw Halloween and I couldn't believe how bad it was. My audience was giggling at the absurdity so much, I couldn't be scared if I wanted to be. But, go off, I guess. It's certainly going to surpass my estimate of $71M.
  8. I actually like Ryan Gosling as an actor, but he is not a box office draw. I said in another thread, none of his films have crossed $100 million except La La Land.
  9. I had a ticket to see First Man on Thursday night...I cancelled it. I had a ticket to see First Man Friday night...I cancelled it. I have a ticket to see it this morning...I'm still deciding what to do. The trailer bored me. The audience score is not great. I think I'll pass.
  10. Just got back from Venom. While ASIB is a better film, I had a better time at Venom. Didn’t check my watch once. But, again, ASIB has better characters that you actually care about. This is a great weekend to see two films. I was not disappointed by either. I saw ASIB in Dolby and Venom in IMAX.
  11. I just can't believe some people thought an R-rated musical drama was going to beat a CBM based on a Marvel character. I just got back from ASIB and I will be seeing Venom tonight. ASIB really had me in my feelings and I've seen the Streisand version. An actual tear formed and rolled down one of my cheeks and I had to discreetly wipe it away. I was shocked. Gaga is good. We shall see what kind of legs it has.
  12. I saw this at AMC with A-List. I complained about the number of trailers before the movie and the reply I got back is that 9 trailers are scheduled for a total of 22 minutes and 36 seconds. Is that not crazy? That's why people just stay home and watch Netflix (especially with a movie like this that doesn't truly need the theater experience). The maximum number of trailers should be 5, period. Anyway the movie was ok. Reminded me of a Tyler Perry film with white people. Even the audience reminded me of the audience with Acrimony (very toned down, of course, but there was some talking back to the screen going on). Anyway, it was a fun movie night and I recommended it to my mom. She checked it out and thought it was ok.
  13. I am very surprised. There was a considerably smaller audience for The Nun last night compared to The Meg. I didn’t think it had a chance to beat The Meg’s OW.
  14. IT with a nun instead of a clown. The theater was not crowded tonight. There was a bigger crowd for The Meg when I saw it opening night. I am positive it will still pull in $35M+
  15. I actually feel better about this film now. It felt way too rushed. I felt like this was going to flop hard. It may still, but it won’t be because they rushed it.
  16. This will be the second week in a row I haven't used my AMC A-List subscription 🙄 I'm very impressed by CRA. It's a one-time watch, though (for me). I saw M:I-F six times. I will probably never watch it again. I'm not wasting my time on HTM. .
  17. Still no female pilot(s) announced? Edit: I see Monica Barbaro is a female pilot. I am trying to keep an open mind about this and reserve further judgment until I see a trailer.
  18. It felt like a 90s rom-com and that’s a compliment. Predictable? Sure. But, beautifully shot...stunning. I enjoyed it. My only complaint is the lead actor (he just wasn’t the right choice for this part IMO).
  19. I haven’t read the book and, honestly, never heard of it before last week. Going to see it tonight in Dolby at AMC.
  20. Tom Cruise as Hal Jordan makes no sense to me. But, I guess it’s really going to happen.
  21. Haven't been following the hype, but someone bought out the Thursday night previews at my local AMC in Dolby Cinema (both the 7:45pm and the 10:30pm). I was going to reserve my seat today through A-List. I will be seeing it Friday night instead.
  22. Just saw it. Powerful film. You could drop a pin at the very end. Nobody seemed to want to move. Sometimes it dragged for me, but I’m also tired. I saw it directly after work. I would give it an 8/10 and I really hope people see it.
  23. More people showed up to this than I expected. Skyscraper-level entertainment, but at least Skyscraper had The Rock. I give it a 2.5/5. If I didn’t have A-List, I would not have seen this.
