I wonder if Rock + CBM flopping will result in a downward spiral for Rock that he can’t really recover from. It happens to basically every action Star not named Tom Cruise eventually. He hasn’t really had any major breakouts and the successes he’s had were him joining somebody else’s IP.

Batman was great tho. BA might struggle to hit its domestic mark of 370m for its WW goal of initial openings are any indications.

I’ve heard people irl talk about most dc movies that are set to come out in the next couple of years…except black Adam. I genuinely don’t think people know that movie even exists.

Smashed earnings., D+ at 152m subs. Added 14.4m subs. Street expected 10m, I was expecting around 12. also looks like the 7.99 will become the ad supported price, 10.99 the ad free price Starting in December. Imagine a bundle price increase is coming. -

With how much Hulu has been talked about in terms of what’s going to happen to it (people have to be brain dead to think it’s going to just disappear), they might address that. Content wise these calls never amount to much as that’s not their purpose. At most, increased investment into the content might be talked about. -

The august - October period I can see companies lean heavily towards streaming releases from this point on. It has never been a lucrative period and the one or two movies that break every 5 years isn’t worth it. -

I don’t think paying 25m + royalties for the lead actor is going to be a sustainable way to launch new lesser known characters.

I think the broad picture is that they are cutting different avenues and not increasing budgets for anything that they are keeping on the Warner side. There’s likely 0 expansion for DC. The plan, whatever it is, probably isn’t some expansive explosion of content. Maybe a movie or 2 a year. Maybe a tv show here and there.

True Paramount did rather well this quarter. I think though that Nick and Disney are just far larger draws than CN.

If they want to even slightly replicate marvel they’re going to have to push unknown characters with large budgets. Zaslav doesn’t seem to be willing to do that. My guess is that we’ll get movies of the big 3 and crossovers with them and everyone else is simply support.
