Just came back from the movies (Blue Beetle is amazing) and was talking to one of the employees. She said the theater may close early Sunday due to the tropical storm. Anyone in the LA/OC/SD area hear anything similar?

Within the article it states that multiple nonprofits plan on buying out theaters to give to community members and school children
To add to this, here in SoCal LA Unified (second largest in the nation) started school Monday (yesterday). A bunch of school districts in Orange County will start school today.
No one saw Barbie doing relatively well in China. WB didn't push it and even local theaters didn't think much of it. You saw screen expansion during opening weekend to make up for the demand and great WoM. Missed opportunity by everyone involved
In my area (Orange County, CA) the local Regal was closed but will soon reopen within the next couple weeks under Cinemark. Maybe Cinemark is gobbling up some of the shuttered Regal/Edwards locations.
The budget all went into those life-sized Barbie boxes at every theater 🙃 Considering how ridiculous the lines were for just that during opening week, I'd say money well spent lol
It's amusing to see Snyder AND David Ayer support Blue Beetle while some (many?) of the Snyder stans are having absolute meltdowns. It's actually kind of pathetic to see.
In their Friday night write up, Deadline stated the weekend total box office would be $160-170m. Um Deadline might be a tad off because the top three movies alone will be north of $160m+. Someone doesn't know how to add lol
I'd love to see Deadline's reasoning for a $70m Barbie weekend off a $21.4m Thursday. There's lowballing and then there's what this projection is, ESPECIALLY when they claim "best 2nd weekend presales ever" 🙃
