Definitely won’t get to $1.3b OS minus China. After this weekend it will be sitting somewhere around $850m. After that it may be able to do another $200m.
So here’s a question. Do you think China opening 2 weeks after everyone else hurt or helped the film?
Hurt because it allowed piracy and spoilers to happen?
Helped because it let the WOM spread and anticipation build?
So no movie in the Top 20 of China’s biggest opening weekends or total box office has a higher Douban rating than IW has currently.
I know the opening will be huge but since this seems like it’s going to be so highly rated I’m hoping for a 2.2x multiplier
China opens in 36 hours. Going to be a fun ride this weekend. Dom will be at around $545m, OS about $845m. China can be anywhere from $200m to $275m depending on a few factors. The road to $2 billion marches onward!
I’m not sure how the Maoyan or Douban ratings equate because RPO is a 9.1 / 8.9 but Rampage is a 9.0 / 6.7
So IW is currently 8.4 but when you look at the differences above idk what that means.
So how do movies usual play in China during OW in terms of how much is earned per day?
Like in the US, for huge movies, OD is skewed because of Thursday previews numbers but Saturday is typically 10-15% higher than true Friday. Sunday is usually about 20% below Saturday. Is it the same in China or different viewing habits?
It's not gonna do that much but I just wanna point out that Infinity War is about to make more OW than Ultron did total and 3x what the Avengers made total.
So....
There's that.
