  1. It did OK cause it was on the cheap side for a superhero movie. I think the question mark here is has the audience really expanded enough for the sequel to do much better? It's not like a situation where the character has shown up in a team up like what Marvel did with its smaller characters. This is just a direct sequel.
  2. We knew right off the bat that Lupita's performance was a huge showcase, like that trailer alone built her buzz.
  3. If Lupita couldn't make it with 93 on RT and a much baitier role, I doubt Keke is getting anywhere near.
  4. I'm not sure what his problem is with the people who just tweeted genuinely positive things? cause there are some tweets that straight up do sound like they have no opinion on the film and I think those might be the ones who are afraid to say what they think or are waiting to see the consensus before having a take.
  5. Well, Scott Mantz didn’t like it and he’s pretty much as middle of the road as possible.
  6. And there seem to be very few reactions from last night so you really can’t tell. Thor was strange cause they literally had waves of people in the first round giving it glowing reviews and then a more negative second wave followed by a measured third wave lol
  7. They clearly choose the earliest access people based on what their taste aligns with, most of these nerd site critics give most things a positive review… same thing happened with WW84. I think AoU also had a waaay more positive initial reaction with some saying it’s better than the first before real reviews kicked in. Also I think any sequel to a beloved film gets a lot of people hoping it’s just as good and maybe in denial that it isn’t…
  8. A test screening account on twitter has had the full synopsis up for weeks lmao. They could so easily have shut that down if they were worried about spoilers.
  9. Absolutely nothing about these tweets sound remotely spoiler-ish, certainly not more so than their own trailer... just weird why they would hold reactions if people saw it last week already.
  10. They obviously weren't going to cut out Jane, that seemed like the whole reason they were doing a 4th movie lol. I do feel bad that Portman got roped into coming back cause she saw how much people loved Ragnarok.. although really it does say something about this franchise that it can't really seem to make the earth characters work like 3 different filmmakers have tried the Jane storyline.
  11. Can’t say I’d blame Feige if he chose to manage the burgeoning tv side more, especially since he got very reliable directors for the movies this time around like who would’ve thought Chloe Zhao would make the first rotten MCU film? Or Waititi AND Rami would make such polarizing films?
  12. Exactly, this is also a fundamentally different kind of franchise from things like Transformers, F&F, Jurassic World, etc. where reception is kind of irrelevant and the fans are literally just there to see things explode. MCU fans are used to 14 years of pretty consistent quality and well thought-out storyline. There's a reason why they never had a rotten on RT film until 2021 and the fact that now we have not only a rotten film, but then 2 mixed/polarizing films back to back... all from usually reliable directors, two of whom are Oscar winners even.
  13. Ok but its just gonna be bad so that won't even be an issue lol
  14. idk why it's so hard to believe taika was just fucking around on this production and maybe not 100% focused on work... i mean we all saw the pap photos lmao. i like him and want him to make good movies again but not gonna deny his lifestyle has taken a significant turn since he was doing ragnarok.
  15. Yeah, this feels like if Hollywood made an inspiring story about overcoming the blacklist in like 1963 when all the people who enabled and benefited from the issue at hand are still alive, kicking and still benefiting lol
  16. As far as we know Love and Thunder had a totally un-troubled production and yet that became just as messy/polarizing as MoM being "troubled" so who knows lol
  17. I think they start insisting when the longer version is a mess and possibly even worse. They certainly had no problem with Endgame being 3 hours long.
  18. Film twitter loves Carey Mulligan still. I think The Greatest Beer Run Ever will be the biggest villain if it even manages to get into the race. I'm discounting Amsterdam cause that's probably going to flop. Empire of Light and The Whale will possibly rub people the wrong way too.
  19. Yeah and it also makes way more sense to add one character to a group dynamic like the guardians vs add 5 characters to a Thor movie.
  20. I don’t remember that but GotG3 was absolutely supposed to come out before this, it was originally supposed to be May 2020… it just made so much sense as a post-Endgame adventure. Gunn was literally working on it just after Infinity War. It’s a shame we never got a full Asgardians of the Galaxy movie after the set up we got in Endgame.
  21. It skews older.. even the book is more of something your mom or grandma would read.
  22. Brad Pitt producing this while using Weinstein’s PR people against Angelina is LOL.
  23. I think this will make a lot of people mad even if it’s executed perfectly. I have faith in Coogler, he hasn’t failed yet.
