  1. Blade, Iron Man, Winter Soldier, and Black Panther. Regardless of what you think about their quality, these were the game changers for the MCU.
  2. I am winning thus far. Joined the 4 Day 200M club. Still certain IW gets over this domestically. I'm thinking IW goes 20M shy of Force Awakens over 3 DAYS. Yeah. YEAH.
  3. I don't like to feed into hyperbole, but this might go higher than Ghost Protocol if the stars are aligned just right.
  4. They're rather aggressive in selling the wow factor of the helicopter sequence, which leads me to believe it's going to be one of the biggest showstoppers of the summer. Cruise doesn't mess around when it comes to "bang for your buck" spectacle, and this appears to be a series high right here.
  5. Why the hell not? Both men share many of the same qualities. Charisma that jumps off the screen. Known to be kind to cast/crew. Give it 100 percent when it comes to the physicality of the role. Also, very fine hair.
  6. I believe Tom will diligently search for a solid replacement that will work beside him during his final M:I film. He can then step back, and be like Brocolli with the franchise. He may have a few cameos when he sees fit. I don't see him letting this go until he's near his death bed. This world of espionage has plenty of breathing room to exist beyond Hunt, and the name is not bound to titular status.
  7. Wow. The cinematography and stunts are next level. Cruise seriously pulls out all the stops for this franchise, and it shows in the workmanlike craft of every film. This is what triple A Hollywood blockbusters should look like.
  8. Just drop Ride of the Valkyries on that poster, and you already have the best action blockbuster of the year. Cavill vs. Cruise. Helicopter battle. Yes!
  9. Winchester would've been far better if they had avoided the stock horror cliches. A true story deserving of a better script.
  10. Why does Cavill fight in a bathroom so often? Seriously, though, that small snippet of the fight scene looks pretty damn amazing. I hope Cavill lives at the end, so he can make it to the next sequel. He looks so perfect for this franchise. Forget Superman, we need you in this.
  11. I didn't think McQuarrie could top the opera house, but there's plenty of shots in this short teaser that suggest otherwise.
  12. As someone who has visited the mystery house, this is truth stranger than fiction. Mirren might provide the ghost story slant some levity, but this could've been an Oscar contender if it were less focused on "genre" trappings. This was a woman with a seriously fractured psyche. The mansion is a literal manifestation of dementia and paranoia. You feel like you're trapped in a mind struggling with madness when taking the tour. Extremely narrow hallways that go around in circles, stairs that lead to nowhere, bricked doorways, etc. It's a fascinating tour that is one of California's hidden gems.
  13. The stache chose Mission Impossible and McQuarrie over Justice League and Snyder. If the Stache were Indiana Jones at the end of the Last Crusade, the Grail Knight would be like "Damn, son! You chose wisely."
  14. Spoiler Alert Video of the stunt that set this production back a bit. Cruise handled it like a boss for the camera despite an obvious oddly shaped landing with his foot.
  15. Cruise is one step away from riding a nuclear missile mid flight like Major Kong in Dr. Strangelove except this time it's legit. He's that OG with stunts.
  16. Mission Impossible 6 and Incredibles 2 Super Bowl trailers make plenty of sense. The right time. The right crowd. The right genre.
  17. Den of Thieves was a surprisingly well made copycat of Heat. It lacks the aesthetic sheen of Mann (despite being a good looking film on its own), but makes up for it when it comes to wit/humor of the common man woes. I'm not surprised it is performing as unexpectedly well as it is right now. If it had a better title/marketing, it might've performed exceedingly well as a January adult thriller.
  18. If this film doesn't give Deakins his win, I don't know what will. As much as I love Weta's work on the Apes franchise, the diversity they provided for this film is unparalleled. Future San Diego looked so real.
  19. I understand the lack of competition, and the how the holiday schedule provides better cushion for growing WOM. It just seems odd that a sequel to a middling Robin William film from decades ago is doing this well. I don't even think the trailers garnered many favorable views from the general public. If Dwayne can pull this off with JUMANJI, Tyrese better be prepared for how his F&F solo off shoot does.
  20. How is Jumanji beating last year's comic book fodder? It's an OK diversion, but it's nowhere near as good as Ragnarok. I love Dwayne Johnson. I've met the man twice. A consummate gentleman to his fans. His international appeal is undeniable, but this is JUMANJI we're talking about. How is this happening?!?!
