I hope they capitalize more on McCall's ability to take down as many bad guys as possible in a very limited window of time with the least amount of resistance. Those were my favorite scenes in the original. Less "kind mentor", more "ultimate badass".

Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves need to make a film together. Look at their filmography, and tell me it isn't destiny.

One episode deep, and I am thoroughly enjoying this seafaring yarn. Impeccable production value. Exemplary screenplay, and strong acting from UK's greatest character actors. My favorite piece of naval filmmaking since Master and Commander. Not that it was that hard to accomplish considering the competition, but it's a very good show all the same. If Harrris, Writing, and Cinematography are not nominated, I would be most surprised. People compare it to The Thing. I actually find it has more in common with the oft overlooked "Ravenous". A mixture of a dark chapter of mostly forgotten history with a dash of horror.

It's an overlooked gem from the 80s, I agree. Plenty of young talent on display in the film. It is plenty better than Red Dawn. Similar format with far better results. I just don't see how you can remake it with equal quality of the decade it was made in. People still love hot shot pilots. I don't know about troubled military academy students. I'm not saying it's going to be bad, but I just would suggest to wait on it.

Let's wait and see how Top Gun 2 turns out before Taps sequels are confirmed.

As much as I enjoy Gareth Edwards ability to maintain suspense without revealing too much, I had much more fun watching this film in theater than I did with the recent US production of Godzilla. It might come down to low expectations, but this felt like it had better pacing. Also, Dwayne's charisma and larger than life persona helped keep the quieter moments engaging. I'm not surprised at its performance in China. It seems right up their alley (no, that's not meant to be an insult).

I thought this was a step up from San Andreas. My only major gripe was the Malin Akerman villainess subplot. It felt so removed from everything else in the film. Especially her devil's advocate. It just didn't vibe with tone and pacing of the rest of the film. Other than that, a brisk and fun diversion. The Rock and Jeffrey Dean Morgan play off each other very well, and the action sequences are better handled here than they were in San Andreas.

Castlevania is no slouch. It's essentially a film broken up into short episodes. I'll take it!

Anyone thinking Upgrade would have performed better with stronger marketing than this? Blumhouse needs to focus on its adult thrillers. This type of teen fluff is below them for now.

Flop is too extreme of an adjective right now. It is performing like Hercules, which is not as good as San Andreas. But to call it a flop this early is a little harsh.

I'm with you on the Hercules projection. Johnson doesn't need a big hit after the surprisingly monumental success of Jumanji. No one saw that coming, but we can partially attribute its success to Johnson. He can take a break this year. A couple of films that meet expectations both critically and financially isn't a bad thing.

None too surprised. People are idly standing by on the Infinity War hype train. Anything released in its path is doomed to be forgotten.

Too hard to tell. It's wedged between Ant Man 2, Mamma Mia 2, and Mission Impossible. It's also released during the same weekend as a relatively well known animated series. Dwayne can take a break after Jumanji, though. He's probably just testing the water for future franchise material. I personally think he's missing an aircraft sized vessel on working with the likes of Shane Black. Creatively speaking, they were made for each other.

I like what this trailer is selling. No way this makes a big dent in cinema, but I think this will make a killing on VOD. This looks like the type of low budget cult film material that will spawn a strong following for further off the radar sequels. See Tremors for further example.

Hey, it's staying on course with the high 40s/low 50s right now. Not a total failure with critics considering the source material. Plenty of reviews suggesting that the off the charts charisma of Johson being the saving grace. Not that that has to be pointed out, but it's good to see he hasn't lost his touch here.

So....Skyscraper.

A repeat of Hercules? Slightly positive critical response followed by an average box office return. Better than I expected, tbh.

Dwayne has not quite reached Cruise level altitude, but he is on the precipice. I don't see Rampage being the tilting factor.

Regardless, this looks like a multifaceted international production. Solid trailer. Budget spread across the board. I'm optimistic about the outcome for now.

I recently commented in a thread where someone predicted this would be the highest grossing WB film of the year. I'm actually thinking The Meg has a better chance than this now. No offense to Dwayne. He's still starring opposite Staham in the soon to be mega hit off shoot of the Furious series.

This film doesn't look cheap, but 180M for a Statham film? Pump the brakes with the hyperbole.
