  1. In chilean social media the hype lever for Infinity War is about the same as the talk about Coco. Google seems to agree with me This is actually fairly good for Infinity War, and the presales are just crazy, especially given how walk-up based the chilean market is. However, I could be wrong, but I don't see that much interest in the general audience besides the Marvel's faithful. I think it will behave like Age of Ultron on steroids. A HUGE opening weekend, maybe $2,5M-3M USD but equally huge drops in the following weeks. If WOM is really good and sparks interest in the general audience I think it could make it to the TOP 10 in admissions but in any case it has a good shot to be the biggest superhero movie ever here.
  2. In the other chains Coco fell around 20%. That's still much better than any Moana hold post spring break.
  3. Well, so far is running very slightly ahead of Moana so I think it should get to 800M, we will know better with next weekend hold.
  4. In that 3/4 of the market, Coco is up 16% in admissions from last week, TBB +11% and Doraemon +6%. According to Corpse the first day of the mont has a discount so i dont know if the gross will also increase. Moana increased 2% in gross in an identical weekend last year so Coco should aim to beat that.
  5. Thursday (03/29)¥125 million ($1.2 million), +42%, ¥1.34 billion ($12.7 million), The Boss Baby (Toho-Towa) Day 9¥120 million ($1.1 million), +94%, ¥3.82 billion ($36.0 million), Doraemon: Nobita's Treasure Island (Toho) Day 27¥115 million ($1.1 million), +49%, ¥2.21 billion ($20.6 million), Coco (Disney) Day 14¥50 million ($470,000), +07%, ¥995 million ($9.5 million), Chihayafuru: Conclusion (Toho) Day 13¥35 million ($330,000), -07%, ¥3.88 billion ($36.6 million), The Greatest Showman (Fox) Day 42¥20 million ($190,000), -27%, ¥905 million ($8.6 million), Sakura: Guardian in the North (Toei) Day 20¥15 million ($140,000), -16%, ¥570 million ($5.4 million), Pretty Cure Super Stars! (Toei) Day 13¥15 million ($140,000), -43%, ¥320 million ($3.0 million), Tomb Raider (Warner Bros.) Day 9¥11 million ($105,000), -25%, ¥675 million ($6.2 million), Last Winter, We Parted (Warner Bros.) Day 20¥10 million ($95,000), -15%, ¥1.42 billion ($13.3 million), Black Panther (Disney) Day 29% changes versus same day last week. Coco now $0,5M USD ahead of Moana at the same point.
  6. Coco is now even with Moana at the same point of release (Moana had already gotten the equinox holiday boost at this point) despite opening 20% behind. WW-Japan is at 753M so 800M WW is looking more and more possible.
  7. Could Coco stay flat for easter or it will be hit again by Sherlock Gnomes?
  8. Really annoying that BOM didn't track several latin american markets for Coco, especially Perú and Ecuador where Coco broke records for animated movies. However I managed to find data for Perú. Like everywhere in L.A. Coco had an anormally long run but right now is almost done with 1.650.000 admissions. With an average ticket price of $4 USD that gives roughly $6.6M USD. Thats really really good for Perú. Ecuador is more simple to have an estimated because they have USD as local currency. Since Coco is the most viewed animated movie there, it should have done at least $3,8M USD ( Ice Age 4's gross, the highest one I could find)
  9. Top 10 by admissions in Chile 1.-Coco (2017) – 2.097.000+* 2.-Minions (2015) – 2.086.790 3.-Stefan vs. Kramer (2012) – 2.086.614 4.-Ice Age 4 (2012) – 2.069.905 5.-Avatar (2009) – 1.653.704 6.-Despicable Me 3 (2017) - 1.643.278 7.-Inside Out (2015) - 1.569.389 8.-Fast and Furious 7 (2015) - 1.530.969 9.-Ice Age 5 (2016) - 1.522.936 10.-Finding Dory (2016) - 1.505.113 Animation rules them all. *As March 7th. Coco is still playing in theaters, in some cases with as many screens as recent releases, so the final number will be higher but we will know probably next year when the government releases it's annual report on the chilean box office. Also I used the distribuitor's numbers when avalaible (top 5 basically) and government's numbers for the rest. The data differs slightly because the government counts just from 1st of January to 31th of Decemeber of the given year, though there wasn't any movie that could have been affected significantly for that.
  10. I don't know what is the correct site to look for that, but in Eiga and Yahoo Japan at least, Coco reviews are fairly high. In line with Toy Story 3, slightly better than Zootopia and higher than Moana.
  11. And finally, it did happen. Coco is now the most viewed movie of all time in Chile with almost 2,1 million of admissions, after 16 weeks and counting in the box office. Just four movies have passed the 2 million milestone (the other being Minions, Ice Age 4 and the local comedy Stefan vs Kramer). What is really impressive is that Coco did this from a 500,000 USD opening weekend, all the other movies reached 2 million tickets sold from +1,5M USD OW . The WOM was spectacular and the holds unreal. Coco still has a fair number of screens but with summer and school break over it should finally start winding down. Coco records in Latin America so far: Most viewed movie ever in Mexico and Chile Most viewd animated movie in Paraguay and Ecuador Most viewed Disney animated movie in Perú According to Hei25 in the Argentina thread, is likely that Coco will become the most viewed Pixar original in that country.
  12. @Green245 That's the colombian opening, the real number for Black Panther in Chile is $1,156,408. It's a fine number for Marvel, specially considering it had to deal with Coco.
  13. Coco has a real chance to become the most viewed movie ever in Chile. It's a pain to track since there's no way to know the number of admissions unless it breaks some record and make it to the news, but we know that Coco had 1,6 million of admissions at the end of January, when it became the most viewed Disney movie ever. It needs to pass Minions's 2.076.255 viewers. Disney has recognized this and is going all in for the record with a 2x1 promo in all the major chains throug the rest of February. I went to see it again the first day of the promo (and the OD of Black Panther) and the screen was almost full so I think Coco can do it. Also, it has already passed 100M from Latin American markets listed in Box Office Mojo, despite it's Brazil performance and despite not knowing the numbers from Perú, Ecuador (Coco is the most viewed Disney movie in both) and Panamá.
