Well China ended it’s run without an extension for some reason. The OS-C drop is only 60%, Aladdin related.

Actuals should be some 1251 OS-C, +31M last 7 days. Pretty difficult to hit 1300 naturally, and without 1300 hard to see a realistic path WW. Tantalizingly close.

Probably missing. First run will be over Avatar’s, will be close enough that Disney could probably get it over with a comparable rerelease but I don’t know that they’ll bother.

Japan 35+ I bet, but some of these multis are indeed really strong. I suppose the good news is OS-C actual will probably be more 105.

Disney being conservative as usual. Aladdin will need some really strong legs or Japan to hit 700M, but reception most places does seems strong, so perhaps a chance.

I’ll try my best, but I think the powers might be restricted to getting OWs over 100 😛 Maybe FFH 3-day will be next good test case.

@VanillaSkies the conversation was about how large an opening Saturday bump was possible from true Friday, not from the silly Thurs+Fri “OD.” So there are some differences between years, but the Thursday isn’t a huge deal.

I think TLK under 1B is more likely than over 2B.

Well this has developed... well.

That Olivia Wilde tweet I mean, it’s a bummer the movie is struggling when it is by all accounts quite good and her directorial debut. But... it’s not a gender thing at all. It’s just not the sort of movie most people want to leave the house and pay $10 for in the streaming era.

They should do an animated remake of that spring 2017 Emma Watson movie.

I would be perversely entertained beyond measure if TLK just does like 405+550. That’s good money but the meltdowns around here would be quite the sight.

I agree they could have marketed it better, but I can’t agree with this. Pika isn’t notable competition. SLoP2 looks like it won’t be either. TS4 comes out 4 weeks from now is is essentially irrelevant to Aladdin’s gross. None of these 3 individually or all 3 combined should be viewed as having hurt Aladdin much. Maybe it would do better if it was released in a 4 week window with zero competition, but that’s kind of beside the point as those don’t really exist. It got some holidays, it gets a lot of summer, the release date is just fine (although Dumbo+Aladdin+TLK doesn’t seem wise to me in terms of possible genre burnout).
