I've read about the science of it and, admittedly, I found it a little difficult to understand (I'm not scientifically inclined in the slightest) but I pretty much got the gist of it. Thing is, there are a lot of anomalies in science. I look at it as the exception to the rule, rather than the rule. In a general sense, nature (or our creator, if you're inclined that way like me) doesnt make mistakes.

so your creator allows people to be born with disabilities & terminal diseases on purpose because he can? sounds like a cruel god to me that doesn't want people to be equal but he still wants to judge us "equally" for things that are out of our control

I assumed February. I don't even think this move was necessary since I think most big awards films that were scheduled for 2020 will still release in 2020.

hmm I think maybe Sundance could have a stronger presence at the Oscars then? if a distributor quickly acquires whatever hits big in next year's sundance festival and releases it on Feb or March.

or bigger movies will just decide to premiere at Sundance with the new eligibility window

edit: assuming festivals still take place (whether in-person or virtually) in fall and early 2021.

this is so weird..  why is Spike Lee apologizing for something he never did?

his earlier words was about how he supports Woody and that he's his "friend" implying he believes his innocence and that he shouldn't be cancelled like what ScarJo said last year.

so he never once said that he believes in the crimes that Allen is accused of.

so his apology tweet doesn't even make sense, and he didn't even mention anyone by name lol. and it does not denounce his support of Woody Allen

  4. I watched Da 5 Bloods, felt like Lee's most ambitious work based on its scale, Lindo is locked to win supporting actor if they go for supporting (since this is ensemble and they focused on 2 characters the most it could go either way) if not then he's 50/50

were there any other references to Apocalypse Now besides

    Spoiler

the ending? and that one scene in the bar which wasn't really a reference lol just a sign

felt like there was more but I prolly missed them.

    1. Capernaum: Simply brilliant. The child actor Zain is very lovable and whatever he does in film is very touching in this emotional tale. 8/10

Ps. The lead actor was a Syrian refugee & has a similar life condition before the film. He is now an actor in Eternals.

Capernaum rules, most shrug off that movie for being nothing more than misery porn but it's actually much more than that, and tackles important issues that happen in the middle east.

if you enjoyed a movie as pessimistic as this, you might like The Fool (2014) even more.

edit: if you want more korean thrillers, check out The Chaser or I Saw The Devil. (they're quite gorey though especially the latter).

  6. this was the only "event" movie that would've gotten people out to theaters in the summer (Tenet would've done better than Mulan but nowhere close to a highly anticipated CBM).

so now instead this movie is going to open in the middle of the 2nd wave in the fall so i'm not sure if Oct is better than August at this point.

unless the oxford vaccine that people keep talking about comes in and saves the world magically in september. (could they even get wide distributions of it in a month?)

2 weeks is not enough space to have time to decide and Inception is not a new movie.

it might not be a new movie but it might give people something new

    Here's my top 10 atm: 20200613_020038.jpg

Expect Shirley to make it in there when I watch it later this month and Ema if Mubi is available here (I saw no "not available in this region" message so I assume I can use it).

Mubi is available in most countries but the problem is so many movies are region locked. I don't think Ema was available in my country last time I checked. the good thing about Mubi though is that it's free if you have a university student email.
