  1. Its really based on how the US reports this. I have no clue when the US will actually announce the likely outbreaks happening in various parts of the country. Right now, they are severely downplaying it so that it doesn't affect the economy. If something huge gets announced this week, I would be inclined to say that Mulan will be delayed while Onward and A Quiet Place 2 pretty much die in cinemas (maybe A Quiet Place 2 gets delayed too but Onward most likely won't because of how close it is to its release date). If it's announced in the 2nd half of the month, then both AQP 2 and Mulan underperform severly. So I'd say at least one big film is underperforming.
  2. I feel like there might be an affect the next time you check because of the two cases near in North Cali including that one near Sacremento (I also got family that lives in Sacremento and they're getting ready for a potential outbreak).
  3. I think this is a pretty good reason but I think we'll see theater attendance overall go down because of it and not just presales. We'll see though. No one has any clue what's gonna happen over the next month.
  4. But shouldn't AQP 2's presales perform more like a blockbuster just like It Chapter 2 or even Us (which although wasn't a sequel, was a spirital successor to Get Out and was advertised as such) did rather than a typical horror film?
  5. Didn't the first It also only explode the week before it released (like most horror films) while the 2nd film's presales played out more like a typical blockbuster?
  6. PS for Saturday, according to @keysersoze123, point out a 18-20% jump in presales and walkups will probably be higher too. I'm think 25-35% jump from OD.
  7. I doubt the Academy will be able to sit through a Josephine Decker film and I think her roles in Next Goal Wins and The French Dispatch are small.
  8. No, it doesn't. It has none of Bay's signature style (which is an lunatic mixture of narcissistic and hateful comedy mixed with intense violence) which he used for the second film. Whoever these new guys were just made this another generic action comedy that has more in common with the Ride Along movies than anything Michael Bay.
  9. I wouldn't say easily. Performing exactly like Get Out from here gives it 30.6 mil but I doubt it's dropping just 22% on Sunday like Get Out did. Looking at keyerzone's data too, Saturday jump from OD is looking more like 30% than Get Out's 41%. I'd say 30 mil is more the high end than the floor like you are saying. The floor is 28 mil.
  10. Ive been expecting a lower opening for AQP 2 compared to the first one for some time. First one was marketed as an event and had the "very few lines of dialogue" novelty to it that this movie doesn't. Hopefully it does better than this as marketing ramps up. Going to stick with 35 mil OW (I think the IT movies had a similar drop in OW) which should be fine for this movie.
  11. Pretty good to see a huge success for Elizabeth Moss (probably my favourite actress working right now) and Leigh Whannell. Happy to see that, finally, a movie from this year that I loved is overperforming.
  12. Since everyone here is praising Silence (which is a masterpiece), I just wanted to say that Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut is pretty awesome too.
  13. The hospital stuff in this was amazing and I think Upgrade is pretty good too (not as good as this movie). Upgrade has some amazing action and the body horror stuff is a nice touch. Also, I doubt this movie is just 7 mil budget. It's probably more. There's quite a bit in here that can't be done with a 7 mil budget.
  14. I thought it was better than Us (which I really liked too). Definitely more action oriented than just horror like Us though.
  15. You are legit just repeating the same thing over and over again. Like, calm down. But yeah, I'm trying to bring the movie that I saw and loved down.
  16. If anything, the biggest problem with KOTM was that it didn't have enough fun with itself. All the human shit was so serious.
  17. No, I wouldn't say its as crowd pleasing as those movies but I did see people reacting well to the movie. My sis and dad didn't like it though. When I told my sister its an horror film, she thought it would have some sort of supernatual element, which it didn't so she was bored. And my dad thought it was a shitty version of Hollow Man.
  18. Man, this thread would be so much better if two users on here, who clearly haven't even seen the movie, stop acting like this movie is the next Get Out or something. Like I get, the movie is pretty good but damn, you guys gotta stop spamming.
  19. I gotta agree with @DAJK here. I really liked it but I found the ending somewhat underwhelming, especially with all the buzz surrounding it. It's not a bad ending and is a completely logical one but I expected something a bit more. Leigh Whannell's directing here is phenomenal and there's some horrifying and brutal stuff in here (even if the movie is light on gore). One scene especially left my jaw open and the hospital sequence also had some brilliant action. Yeah, it's no Midsommar but I'd say this movie is about as good as Doctor Sleep and Hereditary. Definitely a crowd pleasing movie too. But I guess if you really care about plotholes you'll hate it. I rarely care about plotholes so this was still a great film for me. 8/10
  20. Boy 2's previews were also about 20% of The Invisible Man. I think with the WoM, The Invisible Man can do 15x but I don't see it do 18.2x. Based on posttrak, WoM is along the lines of It Chapter 2 but without the fan bias which is pretty good, but not Get Out good so I'm going with a lower IM than that movie.
  21. 1. I'm Thinking of Ending Things 2. Tenet 3. Green Knight 4. Da 5 Bloods 5. No Time to Die 6. Promising Young Woman 7. In the Heights 8. The French Dispatch 9. Never Rarely Sometimes Always 10. Soul
  22. But those movies are scary. Midsommar's money shot wasn't the sex scene lmao.
  23. That doesn't make movies like Midsommar, Hereditary, and The Lighthouse faux-horror. Most horror films aren't accessible to audiences. No one cared to see films like Doctor Sleep, Daniel isn't Real, Color Out of Space, Ready or Not, or The Lodge either. It's even worse OS. Unless its a Conjuring movie, OS audiences don't give a shit. This movie will probably gross half of its DOM gross OS.
