  1. I'm wondering if the next Bong film could also be a big Oscar contender too, especially considering that it's supposedly a horror film (which don't do well in the Oscars). I doubt it's going to get the love Parasite did but I do think another one of his films will get a BP nom.
  2. But, they aren't just selectively including them. The Parasite team and Neon campaigned the film like hell and the movie was loved by millions around the world. If Parasite didn't win the Palme d'Or, if it didn't sell out TIFF and Telluride screenings, if it didn't get the amount of audience and industry love it got, it wouldn't have even been nominated. No one outside of India even knows what Super Deluxe is.
  3. So why are you fine with Green Book winning Best Picture but have a problem with Parasite winning Best Picture? There are so many Hollywood films better than Green Book just like there are, as you say, so many films around the world that are better than Parasite.
  4. Yeah, I'm expecting them to get a host next year. The hostless Oscars thing was so much worse this year compared to last year. I'd honestly take Jimmy Kimmel's shtick over any of the bits from today (the Rock+Martin, the Wiig+Rudolph, and the Larson+Weaver+Gadot ones were the worst).
  5. This is a garbage take. There are also a lot of better Hollywood films than the ones nominated that don't get nominated. I guess Green Book winning told the world that the Green Book is the best Hollywood film of 2018. By your logic, the Oscars shouldn't even exist. Super Deluxe was also a poor man's Magnolia.
  6. Good winners and all but the show was so boring to watch. Outside of Eminem popping in out of nowhere and the patronising pat on the back "girl power" moment (which was more tiring than cringe tbh, espescially considering that Hildur said it all more elonquently), there wasn't as much cringe as the past two years.
  7. Holy shit, just realised that Bong Joon-ho won 4 awards today. Is that some sort of record?

  9. And that still manages to be better than all the BP nominees this year except for Parasite and Little Women.

  11. Lmao people here acting like The Irishman is the worst thing ever made just because Marty made fun of Marvel.
  12. If his only great performance is him playing an anti-social introvert, then that's not saying much.
  13. I think you missed the sarcasm, unless you think his performance as King Tut is incredible.
  14. I'm honestly more happy that Mendes didn't win than that Parasite won (although I'm really happy with Parasite winning too).
  15. He's an awful actor and his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody felt more like a parody.
  16. "Academy Award winner Rami Malek" made me puke. Literally the worst Best Actor winner in years.
  17. Didn't think he deserved the award but another great speech from Phoenix though. Wonder what the Joker crowd thinks of the speech.
  18. Phoenix's Joker performance looks geniunely bad compared to the other actors' in that montage.
