  1. Nah, this movie isn't going to bomb and Yan still has a A24 movie coming up. I'm pretty sure she'll end up having a good career.
  2. Looking at previews demographics, it does seem really clear that WB did a garbage job at marketing the film. 58% male is too high for a film like this imo.
  3. I thought the trailers looked exactly like the Suicide Squad trailers. I'm guessing that's part of the reason people were turned off. They didn't want another film that looked like Suicide Squad.
  4. Critics choice score went down to 35. @grim22 you know how many critics have rated it on the site because that looks abnormally low? Like, to me it makes sense if only 2 people rated it and one gave it a 30 and another gave it a 40.
  5. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Gunn is at least a bit of a draw. Like, I can easily see him on the marketing and on late night shows and stuff. He's gotten a lot of attention since the whole GOTG 3 drama that happened. He's probably the most loved MCU director after Taika Waititi.
  6. I think Birds of Prey could at least restore some goodwill if it's well liked enough. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if they sell it as a soft reboot (although that probably does mean less Harley in marketing). I think Harley Quinn is still pretty popular but it's just not many people even knew Birds of Prey even existed.
  7. I trust Walter Hamada to not do that. Yeah, BoP will probably disappoint in the box office but I don't think it's gonna do bad enough for WB to start panicking. WB hasn't done that post-Snyder. It's not like they entirely reworked Aquaman after JL flopped and they are going with the exact same crew as the first film for Shazam 2. Joker also did make a billion recently. I think at worst, we won't get anymore Harley Quinn spin off movies.
  8. Honestly, I don't think the France OD is as bad as it seems compared to Shazam (lower than Catwoman is still awful) because it seems like Shazam also had previews while it seem like BoP had none. According to a pretty respected French user on r/boxoffice, it could still leg out Shazam with a similar OW because of holidays.
  9. Yeah, watched it in cinemas the first time. The spectacle was amazing when I watched it the first time but I guess I was expecting something more too (I did increase it to a 7/10 a few days after watching it). I realised that really wasn't what the movie was trying to do something more when I watched it again. Still some stuff I have problems with (the flashback scenes are cheesy in a bad way) but it really works as the film James Wan seemed to want it to be.
  10. This has actually gone back to being my most anticipated superhero movie of 2021. I'm kinda dissapointed that Raimi's first film in almost a decade will be a superhero movie he isn't spearheading but a new Raimi movie coming out still makes me really happy.
  11. Shazam's presales was affected by Endgame's presales starting that week though though. I guess superbowl might have had some effect on BoP but its had time to have good increases in presales which it hasn't had.
  12. It's 97 mil without the 12 mil California tax incentives.
  13. No, people can love Joker. I didn't even particularly dislike the film but I seriously hate the Geeks+Gamer-esque points that Firepower is using when talking about both movies.
  14. Lol, you sound like Geeks+Gamers. And you mean I want a filmtwitter version like the Ghostbusters I gave a 2/10? What does a filmtwitter version even mean? What hard facts does it hit you with? None of what happens in the movie is remotely real but it acts like it's a realistic look into how people like Arthur Fleck are treated. It borders on melodrama. It clearly wants to say something more complex than "rich people bad" (the tone of the movie clearly wants you treat it like that) but all it does is end up saying "rich people bad". Also pretentious movies do resonate with general audiences. It gives them an illusion of watching something complex and real when they really aren't and makes it really easy for the audience to eat it up.
  15. Luc Beeson has had a lot of allegations surrounding him (considering that its more than one and looking at his, I don't doubt them). And althought they really haven't awarded Luc Beeson anything (because he hasn't made a good film in ages), they do consistently throw awards at Polanski like he's their pet.
  16. Guy, I know you expected this to be a "filmtwitter" film a year ago because it was a female led film and I know that you already hate it because its a female led film. And you are literally agreeing with the forum's biggest troll lol. Either way, the movie has the same rating most action blockbusters do in france (all of which the French critics don't like because they prefer pretentious films). Also Joker is pretentious as hell. It's a whole load of posturing with nothing meaningful underneath it. It's the definition of pretentious. It never actually hits you with the hard facts that actual social dramas that deal with similar themes like a Ken Loach film hits you with. I doubt you would even care about the film if it didn't have the Joker name behind it.
  17. I rewatched the first film a few days ago and genuinely loved it this time. Yeah, it's dumb and there are some obvious flaws but I don't think I've seen spectacle work so well in a movie since Avatar and in a comic book movie since Speed Racer. Also one of the very few superhero movies with large scale battles where you can actually what's happening (the only other one I can think of is the first Avengers). I also think it has a lot more heart than people give it credit for. Went from a 6/10 as soon as I watched the movie the first time to a 9/10 now. Hopefully James Wan leans more into the absurdity and cheesy sincerity of the first film with the sequel. Because that's why it works so well even with all it's flaws.
  18. The Frenchies love Roman Polanski and Luc Beeson (who also made two very questionable and creepy movies) more than even Hollywood does so I think there is nothing wrong with what I said. France in general doesn't seem behind the metoo movement (and one french critic even uses the movement to criticise the movie lol). And they also love pretentious posturing (no wonder they LOVED Joker). Not surprised they hate this movie.
  19. Not surprised the French critics, who love rapists, hate a movie about women beating up rapists.
  20. And how was this movie marketed towards film Twitter? You keep speaking out of your ass lol. I doubt it's going below a 100 mil opening too.
  21. Even with a lackluster opening weekend, I wonder if Valentine's day/second weekend could make back the money the movoe will lose on OW due to poor marketing and skepticsm from the GA. Like would a sub 40% drop be possible? Looking back at the years when Valentine's day came on a weekend, I think its possible.
