  1. Is it worth watching it just for the animated section? That is pretty much the biggest reason I want to watch the film. How long is it also?
  2. One thing to mention is that Into the Woods (also by Rob Marshall) got similar critical reception and had horrible audience reception. This led to pretty average 3.5 multiplier. Maybe that could happen again but let's wait till audience reception I guess.
  3. These were the only movies they could use. Since it's almost blackout for foreign films, it seems like the Chinese government wanted to choose films that would not do well in the Chinese market to be released around the time. It is the same reason why Aquaman released in December instead of Bumblebee. They thought the former would do really bad in China and wouldn't interfere with the other movies.
  4. Musicals usually do better than they should in awards season. Same reason why Bohemian Rhapsody got nominated for Golden Globes and SAG and why Greatest Showman got awards buzz even though it was utter shit.
  5. Miller wasn't involved with the film. But either way, Lord also made The Lego Movie which was pretty much the best movie of 2014 so... everyone would have thought what you said.
  6. I was going to watch it in cinemas with family during the Holidays but I guess I might go watch Spiderman with them instead. Less to do with the rating (since I am still going to watch Aquaman) but because people in my film critics circle seem very mixed about it.
  7. The Lego Batman is still Batman but it didn't do very well overseas. I don't think Spider-verse will be funny for overseas audiences and the movie being funny is mainly what will give it good WOM. Also, don't see the animation style appealing to overseas audiences. I think it could have a good run in places like Japan though. We'll see how it fares against Aquaman in overseas markets this weekend.
  8. That is a decent hold but imo very conservative. Think it can do 5 mil more at the least.
  9. These weekdays have been pretty disappointing. Hope that Aquaman has a really good second weekend to make back for these disappointing days.
  10. No, why are we acting like today was completely awful? It still is in line with @POTUS's predictions and it managed to make more than Venom by 0.05 mil (with lower weekend). Let us see what happens at the end of the week before deciding on final gross.
  11. So I'm guessing external factors are the reason why today was disappointing. Hoping tomorrow is better.
  12. It just needs to average at 6.3 mil/hr for the next 2 hours and another 5 mil made in total for the last two hours of the day. It was at 12 mil/hr for the last two hours so doable if you ask me.
  13. So is it making 100 mil today or 90 mil? It's at 70 now. Don't think it's too hard for the movie to make another 30 in 4 and half hours.
  14. What? She doesn't look Asian at all. She's like a quarter Filipino and I have never seen a Filipino who looks like her.
  15. If we are going to use reviews as a metric for best film of each year: Zootopia wasn't the best animated film of 2016. In fact, it was the lowest rated of the academy award nominees that year. Big Hero 6 wasn't the best animated film of 2014. Again, lowest rated of the nominees barring Boxtrolls. The Lego Movie wasn't even nominated that year. Frozen wasn't best animated film of 2013. Ernest and Celestine and The Wind Rises were rated higher. Brave was the lowest rated of the animated film nominees that year. That good enough for you to show the Academy's bullshit bias towards Disney films? You are just being naive at this stage. Animated film is a joke for the Academy and is used to market disney films. I mean, guess what channel runs the Oscar every year? ABC. Guess who owns it? Disney. They are the reason there was going to be a Popular Movie award this year. So that more Disney films can get awards. I hope Spider-verse gets the award but I am not naive and know that the Oscars are bullshit.
  16. Just you saying that there is something wrong with people who have "lord" in their username. Also, I guess you just accepted that Brave was the best-animated film of 2012, and Big Hero 6 was the best-animated film of 2014. Or you are just saying that to make your point (and I believe the latter because they aren't close to the highest rated films of their respective years).
  17. Answer my question. I answered yours. Do you really think Disney (not Pixar) made the best movie every year they released a movie since 2002? You really think Brave, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zooptopia were the best films of their respective years? EDIT: Lmao, you are the one engaging in ad hominem now.
  18. Disney has made the best film every year they released a film (except for when Cars released)? Lmao. So why didn't they make the best film this year considering that they have done it almost every year they released a film. This isn't ad hominem lol and yes, I have seen the film. It is a 9/10.
  19. Oof, my bad. Still, no Disney films those years (except for Happy Feet but Cars released that year).
