All I can describe is the experience of myself and my friends, not so much some sort of grand psychological reasoning behind it- I can't think of any R rated gorey action film that was particularly popular with women, but there could definitely be some I'm missing.
-
I could see "R rated gorey action films aren't popular with women generally regardless of the characters" but just saying "female led action films aren't popular with women" is ridiculous given Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman were very successful with female audiences.
-
It is hard to imagine older women wanting to watch it. Maybe if they put Chris Pratt in somewhere.
-
BoP feels weird to me because it seems like its trying to be aimed at women, but I don't think what it is (an R rated comedy action movie) is very appealing to general female audiences. This is just my personal impression, but I can't imagine my mom ever wanting to watch this movie. And I do feel bad for the women who created and are starring in this movie but I think at least the ad campaign aimed at women was a bit misguided. I want to be clear though, obviously women watch female led superhero movies and they make money, we have plenty of evidence of that, I just think "deadpool but starring women" in particular was a hard sell to start with. I'm not worried about WW and BW at all however, I think they'll both do great.

I liked TLJ a lot. (Mostly for Rey/Kylo) Though I don't give a fuck about star wars lore or "respecting luke as a character" (luke has always been bland and boring to me) so I liked that his character was used to in a way that wasn't just some dumb 12 year old boys wish fulfillment. I wouldn't see it twice but it was a hell of a lot better than TFA which was a subpar retelling of an okay movie.

I just wish they wouldn't insult people for predicting things when they themselves don't bother to look at presales or any other metrics. I wouldn't mind if Grace was like "Avengers IW has less walk ups than the others so it won't hit 200m". Its not the predictions themselves- I don't even mind crazy predictions and think they can be fun- but the condescending way they talk down to people without actually looking at why people are predicting things. 230m was not a bad prediction for OW given presales. Was it way off? Yes, but that doesn't mean its bad. -

First its rotten tomatoes propping up Disney and now the entire government of China. Truly can the mouse be stopped? (No but seriously "Chinese people like marvel because local Chinese governments invested in the Chinese disney theme parks" is quite the take) -

Its fine to not believe or predict a 200m OW. Infinity War, due to its size, is pretty unpredictable by nature. All she needed to do was not tell people they were crazy and/or "marvelites" for believing in 200m OW based on presales because presales DID indicate 200m+. -
Why do you always disappear from threads as soon as IW does well? Like you were all over China doing the daily public whine about how there was "0% chance of 500m" and now that its on track for 500m, its like wheres Thrylos? Shouldn't he be happy a movie he says he likes is performing above his expectations? Truly a mystery...

Love how grace is still calling anyone who predicted 200m opening in China "marvelites". -
Thursday (10/5) Numbers:- Infinity War - 6.9m

Now you've done it. Anything less than 65 is officially IW becoming a crumbling disappointment. -

The important thing is that it hits over 200m dollars. -

I can already see the meltdowns when it does less than 66m. -

I wonder if it's better to have a 8.4 with 71% of people rating it a 9-10 or an 8.6 with 13% of people rating it an 9-10? -
How can a movie performing just as expected create so much division?

Sure. It's just amazing that BOT goes from "it's likely to hit 600m thats amazing" on sunday, to having a couple solid weekday holds, so suddenly 600 is trash. By amazing I mean fucking stupid, naturally. -

So 650m is extremely bad now because people got excited on Monday? What lol. A couple months ago people thought 600m+ was impossible. -
