Out of the characters that died I see these people returning for the sequel.
SpoilerBi Han as Noob Saibot is a no brainer.
Kung Lao to fuck with Liu Kang but he'll ultimately be saved like in the games.
Mileena. Way too popular of a character with so much history with Kitana to not be a character returning.

Mortal Kombat did it's weekend projection in one day. Holy crap.

I can't wait I'm watching both Kimetsu No Yaiba Mugen Train and Mortal Kombat today. It's my first time going to a movie theater since February of 2020.

This may not mean much at all but it's hella impressive that Mortal Kombat is still trending in fact it's the #1 trend as of this moment. It's the only thing still trending from the top 10 that aired yesterday. Not anything from Falcon and the Winter Soldier nor Skull and Bones.

That theme song is still as iconic and catchy as ever.

For me going to the movies before cost about $40-50 in just tickets so owning a movie for $30 at home and which I can then use for family viewings with others just seems like a huge steal.
So I like Disney +'s model and at this point even with their Marvel movies they need to just rip off the band aid and release the films on Disney + under a premiere access. Holding on to the movies at this point is just dumb. And it's costing them more money holding them then releasing them.

Nolan should be quiet because WB did what he wanted with Tenet and he payed the price for being an ignorant moron. Any director thinking we'll be back to normal and they'll be making a profit in a year is a moron.
Movies won't be making anywhere close to what they made pre-pandemic till maybe even 2023 esque.

Looked okay. No idea what Dune is about, but looked like a "Hunger Games chosen one leads rebellion" from the trailer.
Completely agree and we all know that after The Hunger Games, the GA became tired of this kind of story. Hence why after THG every other book series that tried this flopped.

The music choice reminded me of New Mutants...and I don't think you want that comparison.

Really meh all around especially with all the hype surrounding it. Aside from visuals, really lackluster.
This has bomb written all over it especially if it sticks with it's release date.

I think it's time we accept the facts that unless a movie is PVOD, there's no benefit for any studio to release films in 2020.
This would have easily been a 100+ gross pre CO-VID but things won't be normal till even late 2021. Studios are going to have to make some tough choices.
WW1984 cannot come out now, not with these numbers.

I do think Coronavirus is definitely an influence at the box office domestically. Movies that only made a million dollars over the course of 3 days made it into the top 10. That's not a good sign of theater attendance.

I do have to admit, at least at the domestic box office, I wonder how much of an effect COVID19 really had on Onward's performance. BOM's write-up pretty much sums up what I had been thinking before, that while Onward sorta underperformed this weekend, pretty much everything else posted numbers that were in line with, if not slightly better, than expected.
I don't think we can attribute fear around a virus as the main cause of 1 movie's underperformance when it doesn't seem like the rest of the (domestic) box office was affected too much. Sure, could Onward have done 41-42M under normal circumstances? Sure, but I don't think this would ever have done 55-60M+ OW honestly, virus or no virus.
I will say at least in my family we usually watch all the Disney new releases together and I asked them are we gonna go see this one and they said absolutely not. They don't want to go anywhere with large crowds. We also live in Tampa where there are confirmed 5 cases of the virus.
Instead we binge watched Love is Blind. The streaming services must be doing great numbers thanks to this virus.

In all seriousness I think it's time for people including the president to see that this magically will not go away in April. This is not going away any time soon and the only way you can protect yourself is by washing your hands.
The impact this has made to our global economy has already been seen. Look at the stock market crashing and in a positive way look at the significant decrease in pollution in China.
Until a cure is found, nothing is going to change. The movie theatre business is just one of the many businesses having to deal with the situation.
I do hope though that many countries lead by what China, Japan, and Korea are doing. They pay the people they quarantine a living wage.

This doesn't make any sense. Trump said the cases would go down to zero by April, how can he be wrong!?

How much do we estimate Heroes Rising is tracking for? Especially cause WB came out recently and said they want to do a live action version of MHA.
Granted it is limited release.

Sonic s reception seems to be a bit better still.
It's lower then all 3 of them critics wise and audience wise it hasn't even reached half of both of these.
It's still way too early to judge reception.

Do we know what's Sonic's final production budget number?
Around the same as BOP.

Could Sonic end up doing as much as Detective Pikachu or more at domestic and ww boxoffice?! Impressive. The release date really hurt pikachu else could have done much much more.
I don't think Sonic will perform well OS. It's not a big property at all not to mention Asia is dealing with a serious health crisis and nobody is preoccupied with going to the movies.
Maybe South America may help but that was supposedly a big place for BOP and that didn't help jack.

Bro your film has already had about 20 different director changes. And Detective Pikachu lifted the curse of video game films. Seems the only goal Uncharted has in mind is not to get made.
Also his quote...
Quotethink what Uncharted offers that most video games films don't is that it's an origin story to the games,” Holland told IGN.
Tom check your source material again.
