I'm vacationing with my parents in Florida right now, but even in our relatively mid-size town, my Monday local AMC IMAX screen is filling up, only the first three rows are left tonight. Tuesday looks similarly packed, or will be soon! I've already moved my TUES. ticket to WED., which looks a bit quieter...but I see that Thursday and of course Friday and Saturday, Xmas Eve and Day, are already filling up, too!
This thing will generate its own fumes through January.
If Omnicron doesn't shut down theaters by then...but living in Florida I highly doubt anything will make the Desantis lock up.

On top of NWH's performance, the Mouse always gets his way.

They were charging $65 per month? 😲
Yeah and then the day after they increased the price of HULU Live to $84 cause they knew majority of people had Youtube TV for the sports channels.
Also during the game on Friday they promoted HULU Live at least 20+ times.

It's actually a really good film. I can't wait for the American remake, The Battle of Lake Chickamauga. From the same studio as The Last Train to New York.

It's probably already gotten to this point but studios are probably terrified of putting their movies anywhere around a Marvel or Disney film for this simple reason. They will lose their money and depending on how big the Disney/Marvel film is they may lose their screens immediately after the first weekend.
I think even WB is going to be intimidated now tbh.
This comes after the shady shit Disney did with Youtube TV.

Speaking of Sony franchises, and I know this is really off-topic, is it weird to anybody else that there's no traction on the next Jumanji movie? I know Dwayne's got 30 other projects coming out this week, but this feels like something that would be a top priority for all parties involved and I don't think this is a franchise that can handle a super long break between movies.
Same also applies to Bad Boys 4. I get both of these projects were hit by COVID, but I would think now would be the time for fast tracking.
Dwayne is also booked for a Wrestlemania main event match so he has to devote time to that as well.

Omicron being overstated again 🙄 it will not have much of an impact domestically unless theaters start getting massive restrictions.
This films WOM is out of this world
Okay stop man. This was a mega film, it was promoted as a huge event film ala Endgame.
Other films do not even compare and why don't you wait till the second weekend drop before declaring the end of the pandemic and that movie theaters are back.

At this rate NWH and Matrix may be the only movies showing on multiple screens next week.

I really dont understand the logic of TASM 3 or even Spider-Man 4 with Tobey.
Garfield at least deserved to finish up his trilogy. Maybe the reaction to this movie particularly his performance will make Sony realize they can still do a Garfield Spider-Man movie.

If they made sequels to all 3 Spider-Men, I would be there opening day for all 3.
Yeah same. After this movie especially. Audiences are clearly hungry for more Spidey content.

Surely Sony is already brainstorming ideas to bring back Andrew and even Tobey for future Spidey films after this film especially Andrew who stole the show.
Even if Tobey is my favorite Spider-Man.
-
Venom 3 is the perfect set up to bring Andrew back as Sony's Peter Parker.
Also opinions Andrew had back 7 years ago probably would be a lot more accepting now, wanting MJ to be a guy and Miles Morales being the one who takes the mantle from Garfield for example.

Avengers Endgame had a 60% drop the second weekend right and that was pre-pandemic. Let's see how severe the second weekend drop is.
If it's a 70+% drop then I think there's a year of evidence to know Mega films or indy films it doesn't matter, movie theaters are no longer viable.

I really hope the success of this film and how people love Andrew Garfield's Peter in this movie make Sony realize they can continue with their own Spider-Man away from the MCU in the Sony-Verse with Garfield in perhaps Venom 3.
I'd love to see Tom Hardy and Andrew Garfield as Eddie and Peter.

I will never understand anyone under thirty wanting to get married and have kids. My god. I am thirty and that thought still horrifies me.
It helps when you're a multi millionaire like Holland is. Plus his girlfriend whom I'm assuming is who he wants to settle down with is a star in her own right.

Holland is about to ink another deal for another trilogy and make big money.
SpoilerOn top of that the potential of us getting Amazing Spider-Man 3/Venom 3 I am all for as well.
I truly do hope that the amount of money taken in by this movie makes Sony/Disney realize that Garfield can be brought back into the fray and become the Sony-Verse version of Spider-Man.

If anything the Box Office drops during the 2nd weekend just goes to show that audiences now are becoming patient to just wait till the movies hit streaming rather than go to the theaters.
No Way Home is the first movie in almost half a year that I go see in the theaters. I was patient enough to wait for BW and Shang Chi with no issues.
I also live in the cesspool that is Florida where they think COVID is just a political thing and will go anywhere without a mask so you get my hesitation on going to a theater without wearing at least two masks in this dump of a state.

Ariana DeBose the MVP. Her last few scenes at the end were simply chilling.
Best part of the movie hands down, her charisma was something to behold especially taking on the iconic role that Rita Moreno made.

i thought he was really good. a better tony than they had in the original. even his singing was good which surprised me because i still remember when he tried to be a popstar and how much that fucking sucked.
Well we can agree to disagree I thought he sucked. Wooden an actor as you can get also you can't hide the fact he's a an accused rapist** and casting him to portray Tony whom seduces a very young woman in Maria was...a choice to say the least.
He's box office poison, why SS casted him is something I will never understand.
** no charges have been filed yet.

Maybe this will get people to stop casting Ansel Elgort in crap. He was easily the worst part of West Side Story.

Here's hoping it does some semblance of business.

69% drop for NWH on par with other massive drops during the Pandemic for Blockbuster films.
I think it's high time people just accept the fact that the pandemic has changed movie theaters and theater going experience. Majority of people will go opening weekend, but if they don't go opening weekend the chances are very high they will not see the film in theaters. And will just wait 2 months and sometimes even less for it to end up on streaming.
