  1. In the vue multiplexs in the Uk it's already sold 12K tickets in advanced sales only for the first day. It's really really good. It's about the 70% of all his capacity, In some structures all the 3 showings of the day are sold out, they should add some other screening but it's all full already. But I guess universal is counting on its long legs.
  2. Tarantino has made like 2500 interviews where he talks about his foot fetish, it's not like you even need to speculate so much about a scene in one of his movies.
  3. I didn't say the double, of course it can't make the double from 1.3 B but i mean there will be a huge or very solid increase everywhere, especially in the Us. Definitely it can do 500-550 M in the us.
  4. Looks like Inception. I hated that movie. I would like something similar to The Prestige, that's a great movie. I laughed for John David Washington's name screamed so loud, Warner bros is like "you don't know who he is but Nolan has a black lead so you can finally shut up".
  5. Yes, only for the actors and maybe some minor category. I think Greta got already too much nominations for Juno but boring (best director, lol) just cause it was the edition after the Weinstein scandal.
  6. Everyone always talk of how many billions movies disney has when all their releases this year have a cost than not less than 300M between budget and obligated massive promotional costs cause bigger the budget bigger the cost of promotion to make money. If we only see how many 1 billions movie a studio has there is no competion, if we see the biggest 5 movies of the year they all disney but the fact is they all need to do 300M more in the us to be a success. Some of the other studios has different strategies than only big 1 B movies. Bohemian Raphsody did less than captain marvel but it's a bigger success. In 2018 Warner got a star is born with 434M dollar on a 39M budget, Crazy asians with 238M on a 30M bufget, the nun with 365M on a 22M budget etc.. Of course they didn't beat any 300M dollars disney movie (or every disney movie should be a big flop) but they are huge financial success too.
  7. "Hollywood is playing younger than expected, 60 percent of ticket buyers between 18-34" https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/once-a-time-hollywood-box-office-rides-40m-but-cant-catch-lion-king-1227495
  8. so? still the 78th film/tv version of a story... i can't really see as an oscar contender. The only thing it can be is an harmless well crafted movie.
  9. Little woman won't be a serious oscar contender. I mean really? It's like a star is born but worst, everyone thought it was the new la la land and it won only for the song and even didn't get the nominee for best director. Maybe only someone of the cast can get something, that's all.
  10. Oh God Tarantino is an author, it doesn't make 4 quadrant quarter movies like the disney made in laboratory machines. Kill bill vol 1 got a B+. Anyway as I said in the topic of the movie the general audience who loved movies like inglorious or django maybe won't love it cause it's not what you can expect. We know people give the A's in theaters when they get what they think they are paying for. See the A cinemascore for Twilight or The lion King.
  11. In Europe the movie has a big potential, no reason to release it one week after the singing lions. It's a good choice.
  12. I hate atiti since he left the screening of Suspiria in Venice. Imagine being there just cause you did a Thor whatever and being so annoying.
  13. nowadays writers are more interesting to make comedies to appeal their circle (same for almost every tv comedy) instead for a big audience so they sound culturally really incomprehensible for most americans and everyone outside the Us.
  14. The even bigger disaster of american comedies is outside the Us. Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller were huge global names. Now there isn't any specifically comedy actor or actress around.
  15. The prestige did 109 M with 2 stars (Bale and Jackman) Then Nolan made Dark knight, it was a huge success but it was a batman movie, helped a lot by Ledger's death so the fact inception did 828 M dollars WW is just incredible. Leo is the star of the biggest no-Batman Nolan movie. The wolf and Shuttered made 300 and 400 m not 100. So... And you really denying Leonardo Di Caprio's impact for Titanic? The Leo Mania was everywhere, every analyst knows the movie was huge because of some teen girls 25 views. Again Cameron was big but never THAT big as for Titanic. Of course people liked all the movie, not only Leo but his impact for the movie is history.
  16. Also like I said in the topic of the movie this is the first Di Caprio movie in 3 years (the first after the Oscar) and this is an important factor too.
  17. The renevant made 500M only because of Leo and his award worthy really talked performance. Period. If this is not star power I don't know what it is. In this movie anyway everything is working, "Di Caprio + Pitt as a comedy couple in a 60's movie directed by Tarantino" is the strong brand, not only Di Caprio.
