  1. I haven't read Peter Venchley's novel Jaws, but I have heard that the film is leagues better (Steven Spielberg, Carl Gottblieb, Howard Sackler and Benchley himself shaved off a number of subplots and just focused the film on the shark, from what I've heard). As for what I have read: While I thought Ready Player One was okay, the film was certainly better The Princess Bride-then again, I still really liked the book Goldfinger-in the film, Goldfinger plans to set off a nuclear device and irradiate the gold in Fort Knox, destablising the US economy; in the book, he plans to literally steal it out of the vaults; three guesses which version's better; Bond's seduction of Pussy Galore is also better, though still a little problematic
  2. It's not just her. Spielberg and Ford want whatever script they use to be the best it can be (I think Spielberg gave an interview where he admitted that he wasn't too fond of the extraterrestrial angle for Crystal Skull, and he's made it no secret that Temple of Doom is his least favourite).
  3. The reason I'm showing this is because it sounds like Ford vs. Ferrari hitting $100 DOM is all but guaranteed:
  4. Wow. That's...that's awesome. Hopefully it'll have legs and hopefully the international audiences will love it too.
  5. They've been attacking him too for the past two years, so they can't really take the high ground (not all of them-just the ones who keep using those moronic nicknames for him). Throwing shade at people who didn't like his film isn't really that bad an offence compared to what other directors have done. Compared to Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, Johnson's a saint.
  6. Hopefully. Production may have started out with some bumps, but since late June it seems to have gone smoothly (compared to production on Spectre and QoS, this one seems to have had plain sailing). The behind-the-scenes talent working on it also give me hope: Sandgren as DOP, Mark Tildesley as Production Designer, Cross and Graham editing, and of course Burns, Waller-Bridge and Fukunaga.
  7. And hopefully, it'll be awesome, which considering the usual trend for Bond actor's last Bond films, would be impressive.
  8. So far, it's grossed $58 million DOM. So I'd wager there's a strong chance it could hit $100 DOM.
  9. I don't think we're that far behind on a Black Widow trailer. MCU films coming out in May usually have their first trailers come out around late November/December. Which means that we don't have to wait for that trailer to happen. The other two-well, I'm probably not going to see those in cinemas... That's been my suspicion for the past month or so. The Rise of Skywalker, whether you care or not, is still probably the biggest event film coming this December. I mean, the trailer for Bond would be a little out of place before Frozen II, so Star Wars is the more obvious place for it to go. Attaching the first trailer to it will mean the most people see it in theatres. And maybe we'll (I'll) be lucky and get the Tenet trailer out too.
  10. Dublin's always best in small doses, based on my own experience. Of course, those small doses almost always consisted of the zoo, followed by Easons/Tower Records and the Collins Barracks, and never lasted more than a weekend. I was at the Dublin Film Festival earlier this year-which was great-so I do envy you in some way.
  11. You do know that Rian doesn't have much control over where the studio(s) distributes his film(s), right?
  12. Hopefully it won't drop too much this weekend. (According to Box Office Mojo, it's grossed $46.5 million so far domestically).
  13. The people who want Johnson's career to die in a wreck are probably having heart attacks at this.
  14. You were right. It was effing amazing. The racing scenes were just super-I can't really think of a better way to describe it. The cinematography complemented every scene. The music by Beltrami and Sanders was awesome. And Matt Damon and Christian Bale worked really well off each other. 10/10 from me. I might see it again next week. It's worth mentioning I just came out of a 9pm showing , and there were a lot of people in there (for the record, I live in Ireland). I'm confident this film will strike big.
  15. I've seen a couple of them on Twitter openly saying they want this movie to fail and that they hope Rian Johnson (or whatever cheap and childish nickname they're using for him) should never work in the industry again. F*** them. I'm seeing this film. Heck, there isn't really anything I'm interested in seeing the weekend after it comes out, so maybe I'll see it twice!
  16. I'm seeing this tomorrow-please don't make me any more excited.
  17. So we're looking at maybe a $25 million opening DOM. How much does anyone think it could gross overseas on opening weekend?
  18. Seeing as Robert Elswit has said he probably won't be working with him again, any ideas who Anderson's going to get for DoP duties?
  19. That doesn't sound too bad considering the film cost $40 million. Maybe it'll be lucky and overperform a little-$30 million?
  20. Allegedly her character's the new 007 after Bond retires from MI6 (I've heard/read nothing officially confirming this, though THR says that it's reasonably accurate). I've a strong feeling that it's probably not going to be permanent, though I do hope she's good in it (and that this kills off the "James Bond is a codename" theory for good).
