  1. Yeah this has been my thought as well. GA never cared, fans who saw it liked it but not enough to generate big repeat views, and fans who didn’t see it aren’t hearing it’s a “wow” so they’ll wait for streaming. Which at this rate it will hit in weeks if not days.
  2. Honestly, at this point if I’m James Gunn I’m taking the weekend to decide if I still want to do this. By the time Legacy is ready the well may not have just been poisoned, but dried up, filled in, paved over and then blown to atoms to make way for a hyperspace bypass. I’m a year older than Gunn and it sure wouldn’t be worth the aggravation for me, especially if I had his bank account.
  3. Well, the issue is The Flash didn’t have enough *viewers.* But if we put it on every screen, they’ll have no choice! Paid for Elemental or Spiderverse? Tough, you’re gonna watch The Flash and like it! It’s genius, I tell ya!
  4. Yeah if you dig around in that thread and later ones that seems to be the case. The version with the updated audio appears to have several other small changes as well.
  5. Aquaman 2 will do better than Dune 2 no matter when they open. No one gives a shit about Dune. No one has ever given a shit about Dune.
  6. I’m currently sailing in the Elemental 2nd weekend > Elemental OW boat. Pretty sure I’ll sink but the weather is great and bar’s stocked so feel free to hop aboard.
  7. My sources say yes. In keeping with the theme of this film it’s apparently formed from five lion robots…
  8. I think too many superhero films in general is an underappreciated reason for the soft or under performances we’re seeing. We’ve had something like 10 in the past 15 months and at least 4 more are coming in the second half of this year. I understand why, they have a big backlog to clear due to the pandemic, but IMHO it’s rapidly running the genre into the ground.
  9. Checked my Cinemark app just for fun. Flash has six shows left tonight at my theater, 35 tix sold so fear. Their one premium screen (a 3D) is showing Elemental at 9:20, zero seats sold so far. Nine tix sold to two regular Elemental screenings. Meanwhile, Spiderverse has been moved to the smallest theater. Two shows left, 52 tix sold. What a fiasco.
  10. FWIW my local Midwest Cinemark have 9 Flash shows scheduled today. Yesterday they had sold 25 tickets total. This morning it was up to 34. I checked in on the app just now, about 2 minutes before the first showing started, and it had 24 seats sold for that show and 65 overall so far for the day. So going in the right direction, at least.
  11. Checked the app this morning and my local Cinemark had sold 25 tix across 9 screenings so far, which for this location is…not totally horrible. It’s also showing on a double bill with Spiderverse at the local drive-in. Might have to spring for a can of bug spray and check that out.
  12. Finally got a chance to see this Sunday and it did not disappoint. Based on all the commentary I went in with high expectations (which is usually a bad idea) and for once the movie lived up to them and more. It’s a visual feast with a strong story and great performances. What more can you want? If I was bummed by anything it was that it ended. Not *how* it ended, but that it ended; I wanted Beyond to start right then, despite having spent almost three hours in the theater already. So 10/10, will see again, can’t wait for the final installerment.
  13. I think there was a tweet in the weekend thread saying 1400.
  14. Dunno that it’s really fallen short, at least compared to the first film. Per deadline: First movie did $62 million in China so it seems like the second should do something close to that. As has been noted it’s still to open in Japan, Korea and a lot of the Mideast, too.
