Just out curiosity, what was the end number for Thur/Fri for Minions? ALSO is there a way I can check for my posts from past like @charlie Jatinder was able to find, just wondering if theres an easier way than trying to scan day by day (page by page). I know I have some recent post history I can find, but I don't know where I can get a bigger list.

That will change come Wednesday when Cineplex drops additional Friday seating down. Its always weird that up to a Wed before opening Thurs seats tend to be more reliable, alot of seats held back for Friday. Its why I was always hesitant to show friday seat counts for presales, knowing that that number will HUGELY change come Wed, but I put them in my counts just for that little more data, so people do see how much things can pop when the inventory drops. I tell its grand fun suddenly adding an extra 50 plus shows and ensuing seat counts on Wednesdays (having said that Thor 4 actually has more seats than usual, prolly it being a Marvel tentpole. For me though its the 3000 plus seats sold difference on Thursday compared to (pre wed) Friday. Alot of people wanting that first viewing.

So am I reading right that Minions almost made Lightyears weekend on friday? Im seeing 48 million for Friday, and Lightyear was...what 50-55 for weekend? And by the looks of it 100 million isn't out of the question for 3 day weekend? If so, Universal would be happy with that I would think.

I think when I grabbed the JWD numbers and saw 1.9 I didn't realize it wasnt opening day This week has been a bit of a distracting one and Im thinking when I was just a tad tired when I was doing the numbers (plus the whole newness of still learning how to do comps) I own it entirely. Going forward as I gain more experience these things will ease up.:)

Note to all....my Canada math corrected I mistakenly had canada at a .0539 for JW3 comp instead of .5396....I mean no big deal just changes the value from 112 thousand to 1.02 MILLION...I mean really chump change.......sigh Thank you @charlie Jatinder for finding my little Canadian math faux paux. It was mainly that I DID have the math as .5396 but I manually typed number .0539.....need to pay more attention to those details.

I may have done math wrong...give me a moment Im pretty sure... ,,,,,, Oh look at that the number was .5396- which multiplied by 1.9 would give a total of.....about 1.02 MILLION...i had written 0539..... Ahhahaha......oops

Ill be interested to see what lesson Disney learns from this. Wonder if leads them to doubling down on D+ for animation and away from Cinema (they won't ignore cinema entirely as they will try and recoup some monies from theatres). I also think its not just Minions beating Lightyear, but by how much. If its an absolute trouncing where Minions does Lightyear whole weekend on Fri/Sat alone and goes to 100 mil 3 day, then as I said before that boardroom on monday morning is going to be an interesting place. I think Disney treats it as an outlier and continues on. Now if Disney's next animated film does Lightyear like numbers? Then I think they start seriously thinking about doubling down on D+ and put focus on MCU tentpole films.

I was thinking about this the other day. Disney did such a great job on promoting Disney Plus that its pretty much in the same recognition as Netflix "Ill wait for it to hit Disney Plus/Netflix". Perhaps Disney did a bit too good a job if indeed thats the stigma. Minions-I honestly couldn't tell you what streaming service it would be on off top of my head (Universal-NBC-Peacock? Just checked yep Peacock). I don't hear anyone around me when talking about a Universal (or any other studio) say "ill wait for it to come on Universal/HBO/Amazon Prime"(thats not to say people don't, but I don't really hear it used). So Disney now, because of its popularity, might indeed have that "wait for Disney" that might be hurting them (at least in Animation-obviously Marvel tentpoles are still making huge bank).
