Bullet Train seems to really just kind of crawl along up here for Toronto/SW Ontario, Up here the trend Ive seen is that people came out for Thor 4 and Dr Strange, and for the families Minions took the gate. Lightyear and Superpets were definitely not as attended. I haven't seen the CDN numbers for Nope yet-the impression I got from counts that it did....alright I guess? Im going to take a gander at rest of August to see if anything is really getting my interest, though I may take a bit of a break until Sept if the quietness keeps going up here.

It is, but Ive been doing comping on some Canada numbers, and I was was directed here to do some Canada only Comps. Seems some of the trackers like having an interesting comp between how much Canada and US, and how much of Canadas total is part of US. And seeing some trends where a movie in Canada might be more popular than US or vise versa. Ive been doing some comps here when I get a chance, just for more data. Ive been having an off couple of days, but hope to finish bullet train this week

Marvel Lore? Uhhhhh.....I mean you'd think theyd do a google of even Wiki to see where it comes from. The editor was obviously doing something alright, but it wasnt his job.

They've got selected theatres here in Ontario doing an Aug 2 screening.

I am noticing up here at least for Ontario that from my counts, things post Thor 4, Paws of Fury, numbers going fairly quiet, even Nope was doing "okay?" really at best, but seeing the Paws of Fury, Super Pets, and now Bullet Train like very little movement in those films. Now BT a week and a half a way, but still very little movement. And Im wondering if its just that with Strange 2 and Thor 4 for adults, Minions 2 for families-after that, there might just be limited amount of cash available (now the economic situation probably not helping), but I have to wonder if up here if Aug turns into a kind of wasteland for theatres. Nice to know I wasn't the only one who was way off lol

Hard to find Friday showings at Cineplex here in Ontario, and the thursday showings seem like they're frozen in time very little movement.

After seeing the SDCC and Disney/Marvel plans going forward, yes its safe to say that they are totally all in and doubling down on the MCU with the sheer amount of Streaming and movie properties going forward. For the box office, obviously staking their claim on lots of Tentpoles for theatres in foreseeable future. Looks like 4 MCU films (not also including Sony 2 Spider Universe films), making 6 marvel properties hitting screens in 2023. Incredible really.

And here I had called for a Nope Thurs/Fri of 45 million, but 44 million for the opening weekend? I was WAYYYYY off on that one. Mind you Im still very new to figure out comping and stuff, so that was probably a big part just my lack of knowledge of how horror movies open.

45 Million (including Thursday) (US/Canada) opening is my call. My secret advanced calculations and strategy for Nope? 1. Pick a dartboard 2 Throw Darts 3 ? 4 Profit! I actually am also basing it on a total I don't know what the heck Im doing look at the comps Ive done so far with Canada and postulating numbers-can't wait to laugh at my failure lol

Oh look they appear on Cineplex seemingly after I did my Nope count and Super Pets Startup.....sigh.....(For the record I am NOT tracking the Tues Aug 2 specialty shows)

I have NO idea how to call this one for prediction for Canada opening. Numbers are everywhere with my limited count. Im gonna throw out 1 Million OD (Thurs/Fri) even though Im probably way off lol (I mean that's looking at a 2.5-3 mil weekend. Heck Im probably way off lol.
