Honestly I'd rather Penn be anti strike than say shit like this
He put it in the grossest, most extreme example possible but he's not wrong.
The invasion of privacy with AI deepfakes and body scans is extremely concerning and I don't think anyone's equipped yet for the legal/criminal/moral questions they're gonna be raising in the near future.
What he's talking about is already happening online with celebrities being deepfaked into pornography against their consent and knowledge, Penn's just asking execs how they'd like it to happen to them.

I'm only up to 4 Ghibli films seen, but so far Porco Rosso has been my favorite. Can't wait to add this to the list.
I went through all of Miyazaki's films for the first time this past month to prep for TBATH and Porco is my fav too!

This 20 second teaser has generated more positive buzz online than any of the god awful Flash trailers did (which we all had to hype regardless of what our eyes were seeing bc test screenings). I'm hoping reshoots didn't sand down an initial crazier cut (Wan did cite Planet of the Vampires as an inspo) and he can still deliver the goods.

Saw it yesterday in IMAX (looks amazing in the format). Here's a short review I posted, no plot spoilers or anything. Def need to see it again, wasn't the magnum opus I was hoping for but still really really great.

Glad they kept the trampoline gag in but the Grindhouse trailer looked WAY more fun. They waited too long!

Smoking looks cool, can't deny it (still won't do it though lol).

Nvm, this sold out before even members had a chance to get tickets (all those big bucks doners).
Nvm again! Will report back on Sunday with my review!

Shazam 2 was awful because of Levi's awful performance. Recast him with Asher Angel in a Levi suit and it would have been way better.
One of the most baffling performances of the year esp because Levi is charming in the first film but here? Sticks out like a sore thumb amongst everyone else.

Does anyone have opinions about interim agreements? Do they defeat the purpose of the strikes? Do they impede the unions’ ability to get fair deals? If so (or if not), how?
If anything they make the AMPTP look worse. If these small studios and productions can afford to abide by SAG guidelines then why can't the multi billion dollar conglomerates?

I'm glad Disney is still restoring their classics, I don't think the others were AS botched as Cinderella's old blurays but based on this screen cap? We could be in for some nice improvements.

I chose to write about Zhang Yimou's Beijing Olympics opening for a class assignment (it was the most unusual thing I could write about for the assignment while still fitting the requirements). I'm an hour in, and this might honestly be his greatest work of art ever.
I'm a big (new) Yimou fan, guess I'll have to check it out!

already screened at Venice, critics reviews are embargoed until this evening but the Letterboxd ratings are almost all in the 2/3 star range.
Not great for BO perspective but Miami Vice and his other great later work also scored similarly upon release so...

I really hate that in today's media landscape I have to know studio CEOs by name and have opinions on them. Feels like we never knew producers/execs as much as we do today? The artists were always more at the forefront.
I hope that thin skinned comment in Deadline ruins their day today, if they truly are that ego bruised.

I thought Promising Young Woman was decent (although I get the complaints lobbied at it) and this also looks really good! A definite step up from a production standpoint.

If Killers of the Flower Moon overperforms like I expect it to (paired with Oppenheimer's success), I think this has a strong shot of breaking out. It'll be good counter programming for adults this holiday season as well.

For me alarm bells go off when I see a short run time for a CBM. I honestly can't think of a CBM that had a short run time (under110 minutes) and was good.
X-Men Origins Wolverine - 107 minutes
Fantastic Four (2005) - 106 minutes
X-Men/X-Men The Last Stand/Catwoman/Morbius - 104 minutes
Punisher War Zone/Daredevil - 103 minutes
Fantastic Four (2015) - 100 minutes
Elektra/Venom Let There Be Carnage - 97 minutes
Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance - 96 minutes
The New Mutants - 94 minutes
Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer - 92 minutes
Jonah Hex - 81 minutes
Out of all of these the first X-Men movie is the exception.
Punisher War Zone is great!

I wish these films were better but they're perfectly serviceable matinee 3 star dad films, taking my own this weekend to see it probably. He is hyped.

The vast majority of superhero films I've seen could've worked just as well at a shorter runtime like this, there's SO much bloat in this subgenre. If anything this increases my interest in watching it.

It's playing on the big Toronto IMAX screen for a few of the TIFF showings...I'm gonna try my best to get tickets to this.

On the one hand, i’m excited to see the once in a generation clusterfuck this is turning into and almost hope wb dont drop a trailer until like november, but i also worry it could genuinely kill wan’s career. We need a malignant sequel.
If the production issues are true, there's no way he continues at WB lol. Pretty sure he signed a deal with Universal after too.

Dropping my BO predictions a bit, much worse date. More crowded. What is WB thinking? They've already been marketing it and have 6+ weeks of EXCLUSIVE IMAX!!!

Delaying it would be bad, for the movie itself and the industry. No way they're getting 6 weeks exclusive IMAX on another date.
