  1. Great for La Vie Scolaire, already above Patients' 300k OWeek. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood should top out at around 3M TLK and all other family films experienced their last good drop, taking advantage of the end of the vacations before their expected freefall today, tomorrow and next week. Decent debut for Ready or Not (Wedding Nightmare in France), but nothing exceptional. Angel Has Fallen opens in the same range as London and Olympus. It should have, like Ready or Not a finish around 450k. Excellent hold for Roubaix, Une Lumière. Could target 350k admissions. Parasite's full week should be around 30k.

I understand people waiting for the extended cut, but that seems too big of a drop.
  4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood dropped -52.7% to 536 080 admissions. Total could be around 3-3,2+ depending on how it holds against It and Ad Astra. The Lion King recovered a bit, to 371 92 admissions (-46.6) for a total just over 9M. It should get to 9,6M. Hobbs and Shaw had a -50% hold for a 2,058 cume. It can finish a bit over 2,6M which would be very nice. Meanwhile, in week 12, Parasite had by far the best drop of the top 20, -20% for 40k admissions this week. I will have to check that, but I'm quite certain that it achieved the best 10th, 11th and 12th weekends so far this year. ...and A Dog's Journey eventually opened in France...It had one screen in the whole country for 256 tickets sold. La Vie Scolaire led all movies yesterday with an impressive 98 673 admissions OD (19k previews included), twice as much as Patients two years ago. WOM seems great but weaker than Patients. It's a local comedy about life of teachers and school workers in a disaventaged school in the suburbs of Paris. Co-director Grand Corps Malade is a very popular singer in France. Total might be a bit over Patients (1,3M) considering frontloading, competition and weaker WOM. I'd say 1,5M for now. Angel Has Fallen had an OK 40k OD, but with 11k previews. The number without previews is in line with the previous installements.
  5. Wednesday pre-sales at Pathé-Gaumont. #LaVieScolaire 3192 #LaChuteduPresident 2298 #WeddingNightmare 1796 #UneFilleFacile 229 #Frankie 123 La Vie Scolaire 110 % of Ibiza : 112 634 admissions OD (Ibiza opened during la Fête du Cinéma, so be careful) 266% of Venise n'est pas en Italie : 104 101 admissions 122% of Tanguy, le Retour : 117 120 admissions That would be an excellent start and make 1M admissions total almost locked. La Chute du Président (Angel Has Fallen) 74% of Anna : 59 160 admissions 38% of John Wick 3 : 26 687 admissions John Wick 3 was frontloaded, but 26k would be in line with Olympus and London... Wedding Nightmare (Ready or Not) 69% of The Curse of La Llorona : 46 200 admissions Ok start, far better than Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark last week.
  6. That's Parasite, right ? That would be a catastrophic drop, but in the last couple of weeks, The Jokers did not release the Weekend number, so the box office sites took the only number available for the movie : the Paris score. JP Box Office has the Paris weekend at the exact same number. I guess we will have to wait until Wednesday for that one. I don't think it's doable. TFA held (full week drops, I don't have the weekends ones) from week seventh -33%, -40%, -33%. TLK will do a lot better next weekend, as most people will be back from vacations, but with no school yet, so probably hold around flat, but on the full week, it will only be a bit better, as the schools start September 2 (so -80% on Mon and Tue). Minions and The Smurfs 2 held -35%, SLOP held -21%, HT3 -28% on the full week. However, it will have an ugly drop due to the end of the vacations afterwards : all the comps had a drop in the 60% while SW7 had -40% It would need a stellar drop that week plus amazing late legs
  7. It's at 1 526 572 admissions sold after a 52 683 11th week on its way to 1,6+ depending on how it holds after the end of summer. It already passed recent blockbusters like Solo and Dark Phoenix (both 1,4). Very, very impressive considering it more than doubled the previous highest grossing Korean film, Snowpiercer (678k) and that its distribution company, The Jokers, is very small (they distributed Snowpiercer and The Neon Demon (139 505 admissions), but most of their films fall in the 20-50k admissions range (They were in financial danger due to the failure of Galveston last year). Not a great comparison, but it's like if a Neon film grossed $110M + in the US with a semi-wide release... The film really connected to French audiences, receiving a "Label Plébicite du Public" which is like an A+ Cinemascore. It currently is the best reviewed film of the decade by professionnal critics (4,8/5).
  8. Very late, but here are this week's ODs.. TITRE (Distributeur) France Paris/Périphérie Entrées Copies Entrées Copies Scary Stories (Metropolitan) Horreur - 1h51 21 415 261 5 764 35 Roubaix, une lumière (Le Pacte) Thriller - 1h59 20 167 199 6 830 49 Late Night (ARP Selection) Comédie dramatique - 1h59 12 067 232 4 839 44 Good Boys (Universal) Comédie - 1h30 11 118 204 3 192 28 Les Baronnes (Warner Bros.) Aventure - Action - 1h43 7 464 191 3 101 41 Absolutely awful. Scary Stories is roughly a fifth of Annabelle comes home and only 4k higher than Child's play... 20 167 admissions is OK for Roubaix, une lumière. It's twice as much as Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse (My Golden Years), Desplechin's previous film. Late Night, Good Boys and The Kitchen bombed. Cume for Once Upon A Time in Hollywood at the end of weekend 2 is 12,3M, which should translate to around 1,6 million admissions and a sharp 49% drop in 5-day Weekend 2 to 450k. It probably is headed for 3,3-3,5 million admissions. Django Unchained dropped -18.23 % in (full) week 2. Word-of-mouth seems fine but not great), with a 3.6 out of 5 average rating on Allociné, lower than Inglorious Basterds (4,3) and Django (4,5), however, it holds an excellent 7,5 out of 10 rating (ratings here are severer, Parasite for exemple with an 8.3 is one of the 20 best-reviewed movies there, while it wouldn't reach Top 300 with that score on Allociné) on Sens Critique, with more votes than on Allociné, but the website is known for being more cinephile-heavy and less representative of the GA. It is similar to previous Tarantino-directed movies. Also : Deadline doesn't list France in this weekend's best holds for TLK, meaning it probably dropped 50% + http://www.jpbox-office.com/daylistf.php?date=2019-08-21
  9. https://twitter.com/boxofficefr/status/1161909380205424640?s=20 Excellent 192k admissions OD for Once. 1, 05+ OWeek if it follows Inglourious Basterds, 1,25+ if Django Unchained. Today is a holiday, so 1,2+ seems right, above the ~950k OWeeks of both Inglourious and Django.

Outstanding hold for TLK and mind blowing for Parasite (+2%. Last week was - 5% and the one before was flat). Headed for 1,6M. http://www.jpbox-office.com/mobile/top20.php?view=2 Paris / Périphérie about 8300 for Once upon a time in Hollywood. Inglourious Basterds did 6200. Ciné-directors's projection is reasonable. Will probably end with around 3M admissions (second best for Tarantino).
  11. Qu'est ce qu'on a fait au bon Dieu ? did 12 million admissions, but that was back in 2014. French films are doing quite badly recently with only C'est quoi cette mamie ?! (probably) passing the 1 million admissions mark. Here's some movies that could achieve it in the next months. La vie scolaire is Grand Corps Malade (a writer / singer)'s return after 2017's well-liked Patients which did 1,2 M. It opens in two weeks. La vérité si je mens ! Les débuts is a prequel to the Vérité si je mens trilogy. The first and third ones did 5M, the second did almost 8M. A big drop from the previous ones should be expected. The movie is holding previews at UGC (a major theater chain) 's Semaine de la comédie. In late October opens what should be the biggest of these. Hors Normes is Nakache / Toledano' s new film. After the enormous success of Intouchables, both Samba and Le Sens de la fête crossed 3M. This one premiered in Cannes (and nationwide previews) to raves and opens in the typical French blockbuster slot. I'm expecting 5M but it could change a lot in the next weeks. Finally, Les Misérables, which won Prix du jury opens late November. Polisse did 2M +.
