Top Gun 2 ends its fifth week with $47.2M at 3,948 sites sending its running total to $538.4M; the highest grossing movie of the year to date, 31% ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Top Gun 2 grossed $4M on Thursday, -7% from Wednesday. Outlook is a 20% ease in the pic’s 4-day sixth weekend from last weekend, so around $23.7M. Elvis ends week 1 with $48.3M at 3,906 theaters. The pic made $3.5M yesterday, -11% from Wednesday. Industry estimates expect at most a 40% ease in the 4-day vs. 3-day of Elvis, meaning around $18.7M. Box office sources believe Zoey 101 and Ruby & the Rockits actor Austin Butler is the key for bringing in the under 25 crowd as Elvis comes off of some ecstatic buzz.

  6. So what is the international total as of last weekend? Initially was $443.9m estimate but BOM updated a figure of $445,757,000. Do we take this as actual?
  7. Presale or walk-ups, rain or Sun will distort everything! More rain = more tickets sales, all we need a bit of rain over weekend and everything is safe.
  8. I miss the crazy Tuesday gain.....before covid, Tuesday was like a 2nd-Friday of the week but now seem like it is permanently gone. Some might say this is offset by softer Wednesday but a lost revenue is a lost revenue, a softer Wednesday drop isn't because of any of those customer shifting to Wed or Thursday, but because the lower Tuesday' base numbers.

  10. $31m would give a 8.9x from preview + EA. I can't say i am satisfied since the walk-ups is not as strong as many hoped. I thought something between 35-40m with few people actually thought above 40m was a very likely scenario,
  11. Overseas hold has been stronger than in domestic. Probably due to relative lower opening.

  13. Universal will see an extra pop from Jurassic World Dominion‘s third weekend, expected to be around $29M in second place. The Amblin production made $4.8M yesterday at 4,697 theaters, -11% from Wednesday for a $85.1M second week and $276.3M running total. Disney/Pixar’s Lightyear did an estimated $3.8M yesterday, -10% from Wednesday, for a $71M first week. Updated projections have the Toy Story spinoff between $23M-28M (45-55%) in weekend 2.
  14. Does this 3m include EA? With or without, this is amazing and pointing to a bigger OW than Candyman
