GvK is by far the most buzzed movie since pandemic era, easily carrying more buzz than ww84 or tenet leading up to its release. I have been seeing its meme post or trailer or poster across social media. -

Looking through public holiday in USA and found this holiday on 31Mar and observed by those states, is this true because I hardly see people mention Cesar Day. Will this help box office since big state like California observe the holiday. 31 Mar Wednesday César Chávez Day State holiday AZ*, CA*, CO***, MI*, NM*, NV*, TX***, UT*, WA*, WI* -

I can see the box office gross easily got doubled up if they allowed CA to increase its capacity to 50%. Maybe better odd for NYC by BW time. -

What is this target? I thought California has reached 11.9m of inoculation by 14Mar? And estimated 9.7% of the population already fully vaccinated , that is easily at least 3.8m people -

Problem is without knowing if they can be reopened, no cinema will commit themselves to promote the film. people ignore the fact that cinema chain help a lot in buzz building for a any blockbuster. -
DS 7th weekend number is 796k , very mild of 0.4% drop , although in term of admission, it is actually growing higher from last weekend, the negligible drop in gross is very likely due to the loss of premium screen to LOTR re-release

Can't WB just pull back the day-to-date release model decision if they saw amazing pre-sale? -
So this is doing 56m rmb today , about 5% drop from Saturday. Weekend total should be around 21m usd, easily surpassing the entire re-release sum of Interstellar of 17m usd and beating 13.7m usd of HP1's re-release. If you think closely, 21m usd opening is not that far off from Mulan's opening weekend last year....I would say this is a as good as it get result although Friday's number seem to had been supressed by late announcement . Looking at HP1 and interstellar legs, avatar re-release should make total of 40-45m usd, although the hold throughout the weekend suggest that 50m total usd isn't impossible , helped by some buzz from headline about avatar reclaiming all time grosser position
